We Remember
Almond, Ernie
April 15, 1931 — October 16, 2012
It is with great sadness to announce the passing of this exceptional man, our dad and loving husband on the evening of October 16, 2012. He was surrounded by his wife Georgiena , his children Gay, Lisa, Daniel and Jeneviene, his grandson Jeff Fisher as well as his sisters and brothers in-law, Dorothy & Ken Tipper, Stella & Eugene Knorr and Tina Burian.
Ernie was born in Lloydminster, Saskatchewan on April 15th, 1931, to Ruby & Joseph Almond. He was the seventh of twelve children. He is survived by his wife Georgiena, his son Daniel, his daughters Gay (Bob), Lisa, Jeneviene (Darryl) and his grandchildren Jeff, Adam, Michael, Jade & Austin, sisters Dorothy (Ken), Tini (Al), Stella (Eugene), Betty (Les) and brothers Edward (Joy), Wesley (Cheryl), as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his daughter Launie & son-in-law Bob Fisher, sisters Agnes & Louise and brothers Joseph, Fred and David, and his parents Ruby & Joseph Almond.
He was our super hero, father and friend. When anything needed to be taken care of, or fixed he was the man for the job. He was an extremely hard worker and was never far from a tool to fix something. He was a farmer, rig worker, bridge builder, carpenter, gardener, horseman and all around great guy!
Dad’s career in Kelowna with Riverside Forest Products spanned 37 enjoyable years where he made lifelong friendships that carried into his retirement years. He loved to be outdoors camping, gardening, boating and going for long walks with his beloved dogs, kids and grandchildren. In his early years he would travel around Alberta to dances, singing and playing guitar and violin with his brothers David & Fred. He was our “Elvis”. He loved animals and his home became a sanctuary for all the animals his kids would bring to him “to take care of JUST for a WHILE” which never left his farm! He loved going for coffee with his siblings, friends and kids.
He was loved by many and touched many hearts. He was the sweetest man you could ever know. Dad always put everyone he loved ahead of himself. He would always say “I’m fine don’t worry about me. I’m okay” even when he was fighting to stay alive. Dad loved every moment he spent with his family and that included events like going on dump runs. He was so appreciative of life and valued and enjoyed even the simplest things and made every day special for us.
We love you dad and you will always be in our hearts. We miss you so much.

Sorry to hear of Ernie’s passing. I enjoyed working with him for many years. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
I would like to send our deepest condolences to all of the Almond Family. I worked with Ernie at Riverside Plywood. And all the time I worked with him I found Ernie a pleasure to work with. Ernie had a good sense of humour and it was always fun to talk about hockey with Ernie ( Canucks and Leafs! )and Ernie would joke about when the Leafs had won the cup last? The ” King ” has left the building!!! Our thoughts and Prayers are with all of your family at this difficult time. Rick Doiron and Family
I worked with Ernie for many years and knew him to be a good guy to know. He was a gentleman. I’ll miss seeing him at the McDonald’s.
It’s been many years since I’ve spent time with Uncle Ernie and the family. Seeing his picture again has brought those good memories flooding back. I am so sad to hear of his passing. My thoughts are with you all at this time.
Dear Georgiena & Family,
My deepest sympathy to you in Ernie’s passing, I have many memories of Ernest and Joe having many fun times.

My deepest sympathies to the Almond family…I was so blessed to have had the opportunity to visit with Georgiena and Ernie this summer. I always found him to be such a gentle man and I was always left in awe when I witnessed the love and admiration he had for his family and the love and admiration they had for him in return. God bless.
Thinking of your family – with sincere sympathy, knowing how hard it is to lose a dear husband and father…
