We Remember

ANDERSON, F. Elton (Andy)

June 17, 1926 — December 21, 2015

Elton Anderson of Kelowna, B.C. passed away December 21, 2015 at Kelowna General Hospital. Born June 17, 1926 in Hamilton, Ontario to Alec and Evelyn Anderson, he was raised in London, Ontario, where he attended South Collegiate.  He lived most of his adult life in the Toronto area before moving to Lake Country in 2002 and then Kelowna in 2012.

In 1948 Elton began a long career with Beneficial Finance. At his retirement in 1989, he was Secretary Treasurer of the company.

Elton loved to spend time with family and friends. He was a caring husband, father and grandfather, who loved Big Band music, singing, dancing, and playing the harmonica, fishing, camping, and especially, playing bridge. The residents of Sandalwood Retirement Resort can attest to his winning ways!

Elton’s dry sense of humour is legendary, and he loved a good laugh. Elton was a true gentleman in every sense of the word. He spent many volunteer years in the Kinsmen Club, serving on the executive both locally and nationally.

Elton is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Connie; daughters Kathy Lye (Jim) of Toronto, Janet Anderson (Douglas MacLeod) of Lake Country, Nancy Anderson of Burnaby and Susan Anderson (Jason McKay) of Calgary; grandchildren Heather and Joanne Lye, Jessica and Jaime Skinner, Amy Boudreau, Jack MacLeod and Dylan Joyce; sister Joan Rowe of London; sisters-in-law Joan MacDougall and Peggy Harvey (Russell); and many loving nieces, nephews and other relatives. His daughter Karen Anderson and son-in-law Malcolm Skinner predeceased him.

Funeral service will be held at The Cathedral Church of St. Michael and All Angels in Kelowna on Tuesday, January 19 at 2 pm. Burial in Oyama Cemetery will occur at a later date.

If desired, donations in Elton’s memory may be made to the BC Cancer Foundation, Suite 600-686 West Broadway Avenue, Vancouver, BC, V5Z 1G1.
