We Remember

ANDERSON, Helen Anne

September 2, 1929 — August 16, 2021

Helen passed away peacefully at the age of 91 in Kelowna, BC. Born and raised on a family farm in Meacham, SK. Helen moved to Starcity, SK and became a telephone operator where she met her first husband Hjalmer Anderson.

In 1969 her family moved to Kelowna, BC. In 1973 Helen started working at the Hudson Bay’s “Copper Kettle” restaurant where she continued to work at for 25 years.

Helen met Walter, whom he had known when she was living in Starcity, SK, in her younger years. Years after Helen and Walter lost their spouses, they found companionship in one another. They were partners in life until 2015 when Walter passed away.

Helen is survived by her son Kenneth Anderson; her brother Roman Poncelet; her to half-sisters Dolores and Phyllis; Deanna Bailey; Elaine Nichols; Murray Anderson; the rest of her Anderson side of the family; Walter’s sons, daughters, and their families; nephews Richard and Darren; and her many extended family members.

She was predeceased by her parents; first husband Hjalmer Anderson; and her second common-law spouse Walter Stefanski.

Helen was known for being an intelligent, kind, hardworking, and thoughtful woman.

A special thank you to the staff at Brandt’s Creek Mews for the extremely good care and the love and kindness shown to Helen throughout her 6 years there.

There will be a Graveside Service Thursday, September 2, 2021, at Kelowna Memorial Park Cemetery at 12:00 PM. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, the number of attendees will be limited if you wish to attend, please click here to sign up.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society.
