We Remember

ANDERSON, Kenneth Elof

July 1, 1943 — December 6, 2022

Ken went home to be with his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on December 6, 2022.  He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Mary; his sister Glenys; four children, Sherrie (Andrew), Timothy (Andrea), Peter (Kari), and Kenneth; nine grandchildren Tianna, Samson, James, Alyssa (Devlyn), Jackson (Ashley) Ethan, Madeline (Kyle), Kaylene, and Robyn; two great-grandchildren Finley and Denver; and numerous other family members.

Ken was born and raised in Kelowna of pioneer parents.  He worked for the many packinghouses in our city for 51 years in various capacities: refrigeration, maintenance, and purchasing.  He was first and foremost a family man.  Ken loved his family dearly.  We have endless memories of times together and even more photos!  Ken loved the outdoors and was an accomplished fisherman in his younger years.  Also in his younger years Ken loved to play baseball in the summer and loved to go swimming. In the winter he loved to play hockey on many different local ponds and some winters, even the frozen Okanagan Lake.  He had a love for sports in general.  Ken always had a beautiful vegetable garden and flower garden. He really loved flowers, especially roses.  He was also a very gifted craftsman and could build and fix almost anything.  He loved the outdoors so much that he built a cabin on a mountain lake near Kelowna where he practically raised his children, passing on many of his loves and skills to them.  Ken took special care in teaching his children all aspects of life.

So much more could be said of a man who not only loved his family deeply, but was also deeply loved in return.  Though we miss him here on earth, our family is rejoicing through our tears in God’s amazing grace and promise that he is now in his resurrected body enjoying the presence of Jesus and that we will see him again soon!

For all that knew him, or would like to come and support Ken’s family, there will be a Memorial Service at Springfield Funeral Home, in the Family Center, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna, BC, on Saturday, December 17, 2022, at 11:00 am.  Tea and sandwiches to follow.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Central Okanagan Hospice Association, and the Canadian Cancer Society.

My mother Helen and I are sorry to learn Ken passed and we extend our heartfelt sympathies to Mary, Ken Jr, and the family. My sister, Darcie, lived next door many years and her children spent hours with young Kenny, and we all had many conversations and happy times with the family. Ken was a helpful, gentle man, and we will always remember his kind ways. God be with you in the days and years ahead.

  • Susan Wort says:

Seeing Ken’s picture & story reminded my 92 year old mom, Margaret, of a warm & grateful memory.
My Mom was married in April 1953 and the daffodils a friend brought from the coast were tucked into the cold storage at
the Packing House for a few days to stay fresh for her wedding day. It must have been Ken’s Dad that did this for my
parents? or may-be an older brother ? It pays to know the right people !
