We Remember

ANDERSON, Wesley Wayne Axel

August 18, 1937 — October 17, 2026

Wesley Wayne Axel Anderson was born at Sec. 33, Tp. 33, Rge. 1, W. 2, (before it became Kamsack), Saskatchewan, to Elmer and Evelyn Anderson. His birth was a celebration as being the first born of the first born in that area, followed by his brother, Max, and two sisters, Beverly and Bonnie.

His early life consisted of chores around the farm, but soon enough, at the age of 6 they say, he found a paying job with his horse Big Bob. Big Bob would take a bite out of his straw hat whenever he got close, while hauling planks up to his dad and the boys building grain elevators. Later, Wes joined dad and the boys building the grain elevators. At some point along the way, he got a name for spike pitching bundles during harvest. Between playing hockey and football at school, he spotted pins at the bowling alley and racked balls at the pool hall.

After highschool he worked for the forestry department as a ranger, where he drove a covered snowmobile from Kamsack to Norquay, probably for the first time ever. He left the forestry department to go work in Port Alberni at a plywood mill, then to Hinton, where he worked at a sawmill. He finally had enough and drove back to Edmonton and joined the airforce. They shipped him off to Fort St. John, then to Cold Lake where he met our mother, and the first two sons were born.

He was then posted to Edmonton to take a masters in Civil Engineering, where another son was born. After that, he was posted to Trenton and Gagetown, where the last son was born. He was then posted to Winnipeg, then Cornwallis, then Borden, then Halifax, where he and our mother broke up. At some point, he met Tilda, whom he married, and they happily lived together ever since. There were 4 more postings, with noting, they were posted to Belgium, and while there, they had a lot of fun. After returning from Belgium, they had one more posting, and then retired and moved to Victoria, BC, while wintering in Yuma, Arizona. In 2004, they decided to move to Kelowna, BC, where they have lived ever since.

On October 17, 2026, Wes passed away peacefully at the age of 89, while in the Kelowna General Hospital.

Wes is survived by his loving wife, Tilda; brother Max; and sons David and Wayne.

He was predeceased by his sisters Beverly and Bonnie, and sons Terry and Doug.

Funeral arrangements will be made in the spring for burial in Murray Harbour, Prince Edward Island.
