We Remember
AUCH, Wendy Lou
January 21, 1950 — March 9, 2024
Wendy Lou Auch passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at Kelowna General Hospital with her beloved husband, Lloyd Auch, at her side. Wendy and Lloyd were surrounded by many loved ones in the days and hours leading up to her passing.
Wendy was born on January 21, 1950 in Vancouver, BC, to parents Betty Lindstrom and Roy Kirkpatrick. She was later adopted by her stepfather, Oliver Lindstrom.
Wendy graduated nursing school as an LPN in 1969 and went on to work at Kelowna General Hospital, where she served as a dedicated nurse for many years. She then went on to work in Home Support, forming many lifelong friendships.
Wendy and Lloyd had their first date on November 4, 1992 and continued on to build a beautiful life together. They got married on May 12, 2001 in a very private ceremony in Kelowna, BC.
Wendy was a devoted sports fan. She and Lloyd were season ticket holders with the Kelowna Spartans, the Okanagan sun, and the West Kelowna Warriors. Oftentimes you could hear Wendy loudly cheering for her favourite team! She even won the West Kelowna Warriors “Fan of the Year” award for the 2011-2012 hockey season.
Not only did Wendy love her sports, she and Lloyd faithfully attended the Abbotsford Air Show every year from 1993 until 2023, pulling their travel trailer, camping and visiting family along the way. They only missed one year in 2020, as their Granddaughter Kristen was getting married to her husband Garrett. There, Nana and Papa gave away their first grand baby.
Wendy also had a longstanding love for the dice game “Bunco” which she often played with many friends for several years.
Wendy is predeceased by her brother Terry; mother Betty; father Roy; and her adoptive father Oliver. She leaves behind her loving husband Lloyd; daughters Melanie, Sonya, Candice, Amanda; and son Dan. Her sisters Vicki, Lorna, Linda; brother Rick; and her nieces Courtney and Megan. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren Kristen (Garrett), Matthew, Kamryn, Nicholas, Tyler, Jacob, Jaraco, Arroh, Daniel, and Sydney; and her great-grandson Chandler (Kristen and Garrett).
Wendy will be deeply missed by her friends, family, and all who knew her.
A celebration of life will be held for Wendy this summer in Hope, BC. Date TBD.
Look For Me In Rainbows by Conn Bernard
Time for me to go now, I won’t say goodbye;
Look for me in rainbows, way up in the sky.
In the morning sunrise, when all the world is new,
Just look for me and love me, as you know I loved you.
Time for me to leave you, I won’t say goodbye;
Look for me in rainbows, high up in the sky.
In the evening sunset, when all the world is through,
Just look for me and love me, and I’ll be close to you.
It won’t be forever, the day will come and then
My loving arms will hold you, when we meet again.
Time for us to part now, we won’t say goodbye;
Look for me in rainbows, shining in the sky.
Every waking moment, and all your whole life through
Just look for me and love me, as you know I loved you.
Just wish me to be near you,
And I’ll be there with you.

My condolences to friends and family. Now is the time to grieve our loss of a wonderful lady who I know will be missed by many. I will always miss going to mom and dads and looking next door at a sign from Wendy in the window. Sometimes it was a message , sometimes a birthday wish , sometimes a flash and a heartfelt scream of laughter . God I will miss that spirit . She made being around her fun. See you on the other cousin Wendy . All our love cousin Lloyd
So sorry to hear this news. Such fun childhood memories growing up with Wendy! My sincerest condolences to all you💜.
Very sad to hear of Wendy’s passing. She was a kind person. We had lots of laughs at the coffee shop. May she rest in peace.
Lloyd, it took me by surprise to read of her passing. Wendy was always such a fierce and passionate woman and so full of spunk! She endured trials and tribulations and so much joy with you as her rock, the greatest love of her life. Her sense of humour was second to none and I will miss the laughs we always have when we’re together. She will be missed. ❤️
So nice to see you after all this time. I’m sorry you’ve lost Wendy but it was good to see that you had so much time together through it all. Best wishes. Lil
