We Remember
BADENHORST, Kathleen “Kate” (née Mills)
December 7, 1954 — February 21, 2023
Born in Kapuskasing, ON, Kate Badenhorst passed away in Kelowna, BC on February 21, 2023. Kate is survived by her loving family: sisters Peggy Leake and Suzannah Mills; her dear partner and friend Barry Badenhorst; and his boys Shane, Tony, and Mark (Sarah); their grandchildren Damon, Owen, Natalie, Benjamin, and Ashton; her nieces Patti, and Jennifer; nephew Dan (Erika); and her six great nieces and nephews Jet, Zayley, Alex, Tayo, Graeson, and Andrew. She was predeceased by her parents Jackie and Ernie Mills.
Kate, inimitable Kate, had an eye for beauty and a talent for turning any occasion into a very special event. She loved nothing more than to gather friends and family around an artfully set table to share delicious meals and lively conversation. Menus and fresh food markets were her happy place. She was a keen reader of history, food, and travel so joining the airline industry gave her the chance to combine all those passions. She and Barry met in Vancouver and saw the rest of the world together in style! She was always “the cool aunt” famous for leading unique adventures, baking amazing treats, and playing tricks on whoever was close by. She was beloved by many cousins and is remembered for bringing spirited laughter to family gatherings. She was a creative, sensitive, and generous soul. She felt things deeply, shared easily, and will be sorely missed.
There will be no service at Kate’s request. In lieu of flowers, donations to honour her memory may be made to the charity of your choice.

Kate was unique, loved and will not be forgotten – ‘and when the earth shall claim your limbs, then shall you truly dance’ – Khalil Gibran
Kate always liked that line from Gibran,
Her spirit was boundless and she is missed.
