We Remember

Bandura, Eugene

January 1, 1970 — January 1, 1970

Bandura, Eugene Albert James, born July 25, 1934, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2013 at Sun Pointe Village in Kelowna, BC.  Eugene was born in Vancouver, BC, he was the youngest of nine children.  Eugene spent the majority of his working years in construction mainly as a floor layer.  He enjoyed racing his stock cars with his brothers as a young man.  On September 2, 1961 Eugene married Judy and embraced her two small children as his own.  They went on to have three more children and Eugene built them a family home in Langley, BC.  Anyone who knew Eugene knew he had a love for fast cars and he loved being around people. Eugene was well known as a hard-working generous and caring man who was always helping friends and family when in a time of need.  Eugene’s main focus was his family and he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.  He always embraced the company of family and friends.  Eugene struggled with health issues over the years which created numerous challenges later in his life.  Eugene moved to Kelowna in 1991 to be closer to his children and grandchildren.  Eugene was very proud of his children and grandchildren.  He is survived by his five children, Beverly (Gert) Bartkowski, Randy (Dawn) Bandura, Shelley (Mladen) Matotek, Dean Bandura, and Melody (Jim) Gartner, nine grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and one sister Olivia.  Eugene was predeceased by his parents Mike and Molly, brothers Joe, John and Frank, and his sisters Ann, Cathy, Terry and Gene.  Eugene was a beloved father, grandfather, brother and friend who will be very dearly missed by those who were blessed to know him.  He will always be remembered for his great sense of humour, his kind, caring and giving nature, and his unconditional love for others.  A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at 1:00 pm at Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Road.    In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to  the Cancer Center for Southern Interior:  399 Royal Ave, Kelowna, BC, V1Y 5L3.

God saw the he was getting tired,

A cure was not to be.

So He put His arms around him

And whispered, “Come to Me.”

With tearful eyes, we watched him suffer,

And saw him fade away.

Although we loved him dearly,

We could not make him stay.

A golden heart stopped beating,

Hard working hands to rest.

God broke our hearts to prove to us

He only takes “the best”.
