We Remember
BAUER, Eldon A.
December 17, 1934 — November 11, 2022
On November 11, 2022, Eldon Alison Bauer passed away at the age of 87 with his family at his side.
Eldon was a romantic who loved his wife and children with all his heart. He was kind and thoughtful, with a great sense of humour and a twinkle in his eye. His desire to serve and help others led him to live a rich life full of unique experiences and adventures around the world, including in the Democratic Republic of Congo, South Sudan, and the Northwest Territories.
Airplanes were Eldon’s life passion; he started small with hand-built models at the age of 6 and built a career doing what he loved: inspecting, servicing and flying many types and sizes of aircraft as well as teaching others how to fly. Even in “retirement” he continued to work with AWA inspecting and servicing aircraft for mission work.
Eldon will always be remembered and missed by Diane, his wife of 67 years; his children Juanita (Peter) Watson, Dolores (Randy) Hess, Jean Lanette (Jim) Birdsell, and Bosco (Amina) Kayembe; his 17 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren; as well as his sisters Rhoda, Shirley (Earl), and Joanne; plus many extended family members. Sadly, he was predeceased by his sister Gwen and brothers Gerry and Roger.
The loss of Eldon is profound, however his family is grateful to know that he is no longer suffering.
A celebration of Eldon’s life will be held in June 2023.
