We Remember
BAUMGARTNER, Bruno Henri
January 17, 1956 — February 22, 2026
It is with great love and sadness that we announce the loss of Bruno Henri Baumgartner, who passed away while surrounded by family on February 22, 2026, at the age of 70.
Left to hold him dear to their hearts are those he loved most, including his wife of 44 years, Deborah Baumgartner; daughters Christina (Justin) and Sarah (Emrys); grandchildren Theodore and Olivia; and many friends from his 22 years involved in the Okanagan’s small business and French community.
He is now with his sister Edith and brother Eric, who passed before him.
Bruno was a man who lived many lives and it would be easier to say what he didn’t experience in life than list his many hobbies and professions, but of course, first and foremost, he was a husband, a father, and a grandfather. He was a musician, professional chef, a lifelong learner, travelled across Canada as a biker, was a ski instructor, did Judo, and was a stunt man in his younger years. He was also a beloved small business ambassador for the Okanagan French community, and loved camping, hunting, and fishing. You could often find him at local Farmer’s Markets supporting his clients, selling cotton candy, or playing his guitar.
Bruno loved and was loved by many. He had a huge heart and will be greatly missed by all whose lives he touched.
A Service in Bruno’s honour will be held at a later date. Details to be announced.

Deb, Martine and I were shocked when we learned about Bruno. He was such a good man. Our condolences to all the family.
We were deeply shocked to learn of the passing of Bruno. Over the years, we truly appreciated the moments we shared during activities within the Francophone community of the Okanagan: picnics, music evenings, bowling, friendly breakfasts… as well as the occasional encounters at the public market or during business discussions through his office at the SDE.
Bruno was a man deeply involved in his community, someone who genuinely cared about people and about nurturing human connections. His presence, kindness, and dedication to the Francophone community touched many lives.
We will keep a beautiful and lasting memory of him. To Debby, his children, and all his family and friends, we extend our most sincere condolences and heartfelt sympathy during this difficult time.
