BEAMER, Clarence Marvin “Nub”
February 14, 1936 — September 10, 2024
Nub Beamer, born Clarence Beamer Jr. on February 14, 1936, in Fort Scott, Kansas, USA, was called to the great ball field to join his brothers on September 10, 2024, in Kelowna, BC, at the age of 88.
Nub is survived by his wife Jean; his son Gregg (Tammy), daughter Marcie (Scott), and his stepsons, Jeff (Dora) and Todd (Vivian); grandchildren Nicole, Crystal, Justin, Tyson, Kodey, Ashlyn, Skylar, and Abby; and his great-grandchildren, Conner, Rylee, Thomas, River. He will also be missed by his sisters, Doris and Bessie (Bob), and his numerous nieces and nephews, as well as by his many dear friends. He was predeceased by his brothers Wally, Jim, and Ron, as well as by his sister-in-law Phyllis and brother-in-law Ken.
Nub played college football for Oregon State University (the Beavers) and in 1957 played in the Rose Bowl. Moving north to Canada in 1959 he joined the BC Lions, where had a notable football career as a fullback. He played in the Canadian Football League (CFL) with the BC Lions from 1959 to 1964 including playing in the 1963 Grey Cup game, and his team won the Cup in 1964. During his career, Nub racked up impressive stats, earning him All-Star honours for the CFL West. Nub remained a well-regarded figure and his contributions to the sport remain respected.
After his football career, Nub transitioned into a successful career as a stockbroker in Vancouver, BC, after which he moved to Lynden, WA and stayed there for 14 years. He found joy in fishing, camping, and golfing, and was known for his cheerful disposition and his ability to always find fun. Nub also had a talent for cooking, often entertaining family and friends with his skills in the kitchen. In his retirement, he moved to Kelowna to be closer to his family, where he enjoyed his time surrounded by loved ones and where he continued to embrace life with enthusiasm. He really did have a wonderful life.

Our deepest sympathy to the entire family. Jean you are in our prayers. Nub was such a wonderful person, he was like a father-figure to Dyke for many important youthful-years. Our entire family loved and adored Nub (and Jean). We have many awesome/good memories of all the family reunions. Beatrice, your break is over, your boys and Doris are with you again. 🙏 Nub, RIP.
