I met Horst at the Cedar Creek dog park about 2 years ago. Our dogs got along famously, which was a joy to see. Horst and I would often walk around, chatting together or with others while the dogs played. I always enjoyed our conversations, his insight, knowledge and life experience often provided me with some great advice. I am so sorry of your loss Christine and Toby. And I wish you all the best as you move through this difficult time.
I also met Horst at the dog park. He was such a lovely and interesting man. He gave my oldest son, who is a huge soccer fan, a very special Soccer jersey he had for the German team. Leo wears it all the time even though it’s way to big for him. When he brought it to the dog park for me it was wrapped in plastic and my dog who loves plastic grabbed it out of his hands. We chased Oscar down and got the jersey back which wasn’t damaged. Oscar got the plastic though and swallowed it. We laughed so hard:)
We also met Horst at Cedar Creek dog park several years ago. He was a big part of the community there and will be dearly missed. Sincerest condolences to Christine, Adolf, and Toby from Donna, Andy, Theodore, and Lucille.
Ken and I enjoyed many hours playing our guitars with Horst. Horst was such a kind and gentle man he will be missed. Please accept our deepest condolences Christine….xo Jacqui and Ken
We too met Horst at the Cedar Creek Dog Park. We became friends with him over the past 2 plus years and very much enjoyed our daily walks and chats. Toby and Christine were his everything and that was very evident. He frequently took pictures of all of our dogs so that Christine would know all of Toby’s dog park friends. Horst was a kind and very interesting man, sharing his book he was writing with me (Peggy). I will treasure it for sure. We are missing seeing him every day. Our morning walks won’t be the same. Christine, our hearts are with you! Peggy and Bruce Henderson, ‘the other Oscar’ (Bernese/Aussie cross) and Dawson (Sheltie)
Our deepest sympathies Christine. We have truly lost a neighbor.
My sincere sympathies Christine. I put on many kilometers with Horst walking from Naramata to Penticrton and shared a
few beers while we were at it. Always enjoyed my conversations with him. He will be missed. Tom Turner
Our sincere condolences to you. We appreciated Horst so much as our next door neighbour. We enjoyed our conversations with him. He was such a wonderful person and he will always be missed. He left us way too soon.
My sincere condolences. I remember Horst from Red Deer College over 30 years ago. He was a great man.
Dear Christine, my thoughts and heart is with you. I just found this. I am so sorry I did know know sooner. My family did not tell me. Please reach out if you would like to talk.

Horst was known to many in Red Deer as a scholar and athlete; to me he was those and a kind friend. When I began teaching at Red Deer College, Horst in the neighboring office introduced me to his college circle who also became life-long friends. Horst was a popular lecturer with packed classes. Also, he turned an ability for vision and leadership into learning then new technology to produce cutting edge videos for our Program. Another specialty was organizing group activities known for camaraderie and fun. I miss our get-togethers, which continued after Horst and Christine moved to the Okanagan, and I wish the soul that was Horst in this life to fare well in its great new adventure.
