We Remember

BELCOURT, Spencer
April 23, 1984 — November 20, 2020
Spencer was born in Whitecourt, Alberta to Diane Roy and Roland Belcourt on April 23, 1984, and passed away on November 20, 2020 in Kelowna, BC.
Spencer and his mother relocated to Lac La Biche, AB in 1987 where he was welcomed into a large and loving family, the McDonald’s, who all considered him as true kin. For this, Spencer was truly blessed and grateful.
Spencer attended school in Lac La Biche where he made many lifelong friends. Growing up, he enjoyed many things including rodeo, boxing, football and cycling. He loved the outdoors, especially building forts and exploring new places. He was most comfortable in the forest.
In 2006, Spencer became a young father to his beautiful daughter, Ariana. He was a devoted father, and did all he could to provide Ariana with a happy life.
In 2007, Spencer moved to Kelowna with Ariana. His passion for the outdoors led him to pursue an education in Environmental Sciences. He graduated this past winter and earned a Bachelor of Science degree at the University of British Colombia’s Okanagan Campus.
Spencer is survived by his daughter Ariana; his mother, Diane Roy; father Roland Belcourt; stepfather Vern McDonald; sisters Raegan Sandy (Joseph) and Caitlin Cardinal (Trevor); nephews William, Kanin and Kaleb; grandparents James and Lillian McDonald; girlfriend Emily Dean; and many aunts, uncles and cousins; as well as many friends whose lives he crossed paths with throughout his short journey. Honourable mention to his loyal dog, Louie.
Spencer touched the lives of many people with his charisma, his talent of story-telling, the ability to make people laugh, his generous heart, his willingness to listen and the interest he displayed with everyone he met.
He will be greatly missed by his family and the many friends he touched with his spirituality, strength, and willingness to put himself aside to help anyone who needed comforting.
A Funeral Service will be held to honour for Spencer, due to the current pandemic restrictions it will be by invitation only. However, the family would like to invite all who want to pay their respects to join by livestream on Tuesday, December 1, 2020 at 1:00 pm (PST). (See Below)

Spencer was a dear friend of mine, I met him when he first enrolled in school and we became really close friends during our studies. I was always impressed with his hard worth ethic and his positive attitude about life. He was such a supportive and encouraging friend who was a good influence on my life.. My best memories are when we we went snowboarding/skiing together, spent a weekend rock climbing and camping with Po, playing poker, and going on a thanksgiving day hike with Anthony. I’m so grateful for the time I was able to share with Spencer, he truly brought light and laughter everywhere he went. He remained one of my closest friends at the end of uni, and I’m so so thankful that time we shared. He was an amazing dad (he always lit up when he talked about Ariana), mentor, leader and incredible human . RIP Spencer, you will be missed dearly.
What a beautiful service, it was an honour to be able to listen to such sweet memories of Spencer. My sister, husband and I met Spencer at university. He had a familiar face, last name, and sense of humour, and reminded us of people from back home, Northern Alberta, oil country. It felt like we already knew him. We are so blessed to have known Spencer. Personally, I was encouraged to know someone that had a similar background to me, that was also pursuing a degree in environmental science/biology. He will forever be a source of inspiration for me as I continue my career in environmental science.
Sending love and prayers to all of his family and friends, from myself, my sister, husband, and from my Anderson family in Gift Lake ❤️❤️

Spencer was a great father, friend and I send my deepest condolences to his family. He was great man and I will always remember his energy for life. I often recall the time we were with our friends and Spencer was trying to convince us to start a buisness in making pontoons that would have a BBQ on it or have waiters/waitresses bring their meal out to customers on the lake. Spencer’s idea of a restaurant pontoon showed his passion in connecting with the water and okanagan’s beautiful scenery. May your ancestors carry you home and may you enjoy that beautiful blanket your family provided for you. It looks the warmest. Be at peace my friend.
My deepest condolences to Spencers daughter and family. He was one of the most beautiful souls I have ever met. He did so much work in his time here on earth, and that will never be forgotten. His impact will remain within the hearts and minds of those who knew him. he changed the world and he will be deeply missed. May he rest with his ancestors and finally be at peace.
My heart sank when I heard of your passing. We chatted at Safeway just a few days before. I want to express my condolences to Ariana and your mom, who I met. May you know the care expressed by everyone who knew Spencer. May the God, of all comfort, surround you with His presence always … and especially during this difficult time. Take care.
