We Remember
BERLANDO, Helen Barbara
September 28, 1930 — June 19, 2026
Mrs. Helen Berlando of Kelowna, BC, left us on June 19, 2026, at the age of 95 years.
Helen was born and raised in Rosedale, Alberta, where, at the age of 16 met her sweetheart and husband of 71 years, Dorin. They spent their entire wedded lives in Lethbridge, where they raised two sons, Richard and David. Throughout her life, Helen provided tremendous service to her family and was very active in the community, most notably with St. Michael’s Hospital Ladies Auxiliary Committee, where she provided support to hospital patients for many years. She and Dorin loved golfing at the Lethbridge Country Club, travelling on many overseas trips and camping in their motorhome. Helen’s gracious and vivacious personality ensured they had many good friends in the community and a very active social life.
Helen is survived by her two sons, Richard (Trudy) and David (Nancy) and their families; 5 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren, and her very special sister-in-law, Joy (Vic Breau) Berlando. Helen was predeceased by Dorin, brother Gus Kwaczek and her parents Josef and Jadwiga Kwaczek.
A private family celebration of Helen’s life will be held in Lethbridge this summer.
