We Remember

BERNARD, Wilfried
March 7, 1934 — October 2, 2020
It is with great sadness that the family of Wilfried Bernard announces his passing at Kelowna General Hospital on October 2, 2020. His death followed a lengthy illness, and he was surrounded by his family in his last days.
Wilfried was born in Germany on March 7, 1934 where he spent the first part of his life. He owned and operated a winery and produced award-winning wines. In 1957, he married the love of his life Sigrid, and they had a son (René) and a daughter (Caroline) together. In 1983 Wilfried immigrated with his family to Canada. He spent his retirement enjoying life between his homes in Kelowna and Cabo San Lucas where the whole family came to visit. He also loved to travel the world with his wife Sigrid, enjoying many road trips and cruises together.
Wilfried was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather to his six grandchildren. He will be forever missed by his beloved wife of 63 year, Sigrid; his son René; his daughter Caroline Bauer and her husband Joe; as well as his grandchildren Christine, Andrea, Thomas, Katherina, Nicole and Anastasia.
The family will remember him as the most generous and loving man who touched the life of many. His faith in God was unwavering, and we know that he is now in the loving presence of his Father.
We will always love him!!!

Dear Sigurd, Rene and Caroline. It is with great sadness that we send condolences at the passing of Wilfred. He was a true gentleman. It was always nice to see him and talk of how the family was doing over the years. We are so sorry for your loss. The Schmidt Family
Sigrid I had the pleasure of meeting you and Wilfred many years ago when I had the privilege of being involved in the medical care of both your father and mother. I remember both you and Wilfred fondly as being warm and caring people. I also remember enjoying your lovely Riesling from Germany. I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Bruce Borthistle.
