What can I say? Josh was one of my closest friends who I loved dearly. He was a kind, generous, and genuine soul who always was happy to hear from me. I have so many memories with him that will live me until the day I see him again. I am so sorry to the whole Bernot family. You all have always made me feel welcomed into your home. I love you all and will continue to keep you in my thoughts and prayers.
Tragic; Linda and I had the pleasure of first meeting this wonderful young man when we treated ourselves to new glasses just last month. We both came away from the exam saying how great he was, so caring and truly excited about his profession. His staff commented on how he excudes the team philosophy. His love of life even showed in that office……”dancing eyes”. How many times do you say that after having your eyes tested? What a shame……..our thoughts to his family.
My condolences to the Bernot family – Josh was a great person and always had a smile on his face. He will be missed by many but forgotten by none. My heart goes out to you all.. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers

What can we say about our Josh ~ always smiling; super smart; witty; thoughtful; loving; sincere; an adventurer; forgiving; devoted to Kim, his family, friends, patients ~ everyone he met. Our world is a better place and our lives are richer for having had Josh in them. But the light has dimmed a little and we will all miss him terribly. Sending all our love and prayers, Uncle Jim and Aunt Suzanne

We have so many soccer memories. We’ll always remember Josh.
Josh’s smile was contagious and his energy to live life will not be forgotten. Even though it has been way too long since I had talked to him, I am lucky to have the memories from elementary school to high school. My condolences to Kim, Natalie, Alex, his parents, and all of his friends and family. My prayers are with you.
Bernot Family,
Our deepest sympathy goes out to all of you and the many, many people who have had the pleasure of spending time with this wonderful young man…We are all better for knowing him.
Mike, Lucille, Jason, Heather, Brian and Eric Perry
Kim, Jackie and John, Alex and Natalie. Our hearts break for all of you. We loved Josh very much and were so proud of him as a person and he was such a great family guy. We know he was with the love of his life, living the life he dreamed of. There is nothing we can say to take away the pain, but only tell you that we love you all very much and we are praying that God gives you comfort over time. (Mike) I have nothing but great memories of Josh. He was the glint in his Mom’s eyes, and Dad always looked proudly upon him, as did we all. He was such a wonderfully positive, respectful and fun guy. When I close my eyes, I see Josh smiling…he was always smiling. We will all pull together, we always do…and we will heal. I am so sorry. Mike and Barbara
To the entire Bernot family,
We are so sorry for your loss. When thinking of Josh, we all said the same thing; he was the most generous and kind person. Please except our sincere condolences, and know that you are in our thoughts and prayers.
Bill, Donna, Chris, and Brett
Dr. Kim Bernot, I am very sorry for your loss. You are in my thoughts.
Kim, John, Jack, Nat, and Alex,
We are so saddened and sorry about Josh. He was our “first” and what a first he was. All other children always are held up to the highest standard of “Yosh”. I know he is playing pool with his Grampa for money and throwing Cheerios to Guinness and watching Randy in the holler. But most of all we know that he is humming “Deedle Deedle Dum” to make us smile. We love you and thank you for giving us Josh.
He continues to occupy an endearing part of our hearts and minds. Love, Andrew and Paula
To Kim and the entire Bernot family, I am so sorry for your loss. I only knew Josh briefly playing ultimate with him and Kim, but I will always remember him as a kind man with a zest for life and adventure. My deepest condolences.
Heather.
When Brandon called and told us about Josh are mouths dropped. We have so many found memories not only from soccer but also from knowing Josh as a friend. May God be with you all in your time of grief.
To Kim and the Bernot family,
I am so saddened by your loss. Josh was a bright light in the community and amongst his peers. He always stood out to me as a future leader for our profession both in his actions, in his words of great thought and intelligence, and in his social conscience. It’s hard to come up with the words to describe it, but his loss is keenly felt. If there is anything at all that I or my office can do to help you in any way, please call me! Our thoughts are with you.
From Meghan, and all the Vernon Optometry doctors and staff
Kim, our thoughts, prayers, and deepest sympathy go out to you and your family during this hard time.
We’ll always remember Josh.
Love Cam and Elysse ox
Dear Kim and the entire Bernot Family,
Our hearts just absolutely ache for you. Josh was an incredible man and Brian and I were fortunate enough to have made so many wonderful memories during his time here. From growing up playing soccer to fun times in Chicago, Josh’s love for life and adventure was always apparent when we were with him. We will miss his smile and funny sense of humor. We have always lived vicariously through pictures of his travels with his lovely wife, Kim. They were so clearly in love as we witnessed on their wedding day. Our sincere love and prayers go out to Kim and Josh’s entire family. We wish eternal life for josh in heaven.
With love,
Brian and Meghan Hennies
Dear Kim and Families,
We are just heartbroken for you to hear of the loss of your wonderful Josh. Mat has always spoken so highly of him. He told us of his dedication and professionalism and how much the staff and patients liked him. He spoke of your beautiful marriage, Kim,and how much you both enjoyed the outdoor lifestyle of Kelowna. He also said what a genuinely nice person he was with a great sense of humour. We are so sad we never had the chance to get to know Josh. With tears in our eyes we send you condolences, our thoughts and our prayers.

Dear Bernot Family and Kim,
A teammate, a friend, a brother, I’m so glad our paths continued to cross over the years. I’m at a loss for words but Josh will continue to live on in my thoughts and heart.
Love, Joel
I had the honour and privilege of playing along side Josh on the soccer field. His talent was brilliant and like no other as we won a couple of championships together. Ecora FC would like to send their condolences. He was one of the best on and off the field. A class act…..
My husband and I met Josh playing Indoor Soccer this winter at CNC. Our team was lucky to have such an amazing soccer player with the hardest shot we have ever seen. We will never forget when he took one of the hardest shots we had ever seen on a female goalie, and she actually saved the shot. We could not believe that the ball was stopped. We also got to know Josh at the Richter dog park where Buckeye and Kody got to play while we talked about life. My husband talked to him only a week before he had left for his trip and Josh was really excited about going on this adventure. When we heard the news, we were shattered. We still can’t believe it, and only having known him for a little while we are very much saddened and hurting from his loss. Our love goes out to Kim and all his family and friends.
You will never be forgotten Josh!
John and Jackie
I have no words that can express my sadness for you and your families. You all are in my prayers. My deepest condolences
