BERTUCCI, Alessandra

August 30, 1926 — April 8, 2016

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Alessandra Bertucci on April 8, 2016 in Kelowna, BC at the age of 89. She is survived by Antonio, her loving husband of 68 years; her children Anna (Reynald) and Lorraine (Dean); beloved grandchildren Melanie (Jamie), Christian (Rachel), Miguel, Jessica, Anthony (Lisa), and Alexander (Lexi); and her great-grandchildren Katie, Jacob, Stella, and Julia.  Also left to mourn is her brothers-in-law Vince (Valentina) and Angelo (Mariella) of Italy, as well as numerous nieces and nephews in Kelowna and Italy.  She is predeceased by her parents Enrico and Ida Crocetti and nephew Mark.  Sandra was born in Pontecosi, Italy on August 30, 1926.  She married Antonio in 1947.  She and her daughter Anna immigrated to Canada in 1951 to join her husband who had settled in Kelowna, BC earlier.  Sandra was an accomplished seamstress and a hard worker keeping not only her day job at Henderson’s Dry Cleaners, but also doing alterations for the men’s department at The Bay.  She later opened a drapery shop with her friend, Romilde.  However, her greatest passion was her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and many of her lifetime friends.  Because of her approachable and generous nature, she was considered a second mother to many.  An incredible cook, her kitchen was always filled with the aroma of her excellent meals.  Her door was always open to anyone.  Modern and forward thinking, she stressed the value of education to us all!  She will be truly missed by all who were blessed enough to have known her, and leaves behind a legacy of love and family traditions.  Please join us as we celebrate Sandra’s life on Friday, April 15, 2016 at 11:00 am at St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church, 1077 Fuller Avenue, Kelowna, BC.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
