We Remember

BERTUCCI, Antonio
June 13, 1926 — August 13, 2020
It is with great sadness and fond memories that we announce the passing of our dear father, Antonio Bertucci, on August 11th, 2020 at home, surrounded by family.
Tony was born on June 13th, 1926, in Pontecosi, Lucca, Italy. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 68 years, Alessandra (d. 2016), parents Anna and Cesare, brother Alfonso, and nephew Mark. He is survived by his two daughters Anna (Reynald) and Lorraine (Dean); grandchildren Melanie (Jamie), Christian (Rachel), Miguel, Jessica, Anthony (Lisa), and Alexander; and great-grandchildren Katie, Jacob, Stella, and Julia. He is also survived by his brother Vince (Valentina), brother Angelo (Italy) and numerous nieces and nephews both in Canada and Italy.
Tony was a hard-working and dedicated man who worked at Calona Wines for 40 years. He was one of the founding members of the Kelowna Canadian Italian Club, and the founder and president of the Kelowna Bocce Club. An avid gardener, creek fisherman, and winner of the Senior Summer Games bocce tournament, Tony spent his time pursuing his passions and contributing to his community.
Tony and Sandra enjoyed their continuing connection with the old country through many trips back to Italy to visit family and friends. In retirement, they enjoyed playing cards with their friends, and Tony loved attending Rockets games with his grandson, Alexander for a span of 15 years.
He will be fondly remembered for his generosity, integrity, strong work ethic, unique sense of humour, and quick wit. He was an inspiration on many levels and taught us all so much about life and love; how to be a great husband, supportive father, and loving grandfather to all of his grandchildren. He valued family and friendships above all else, and was always there for those he loved.
The family would like to thank local paramedics, KGH emergency, Craig and the staff at Pharmasave, and extend a special thank you to Dr. Chris Livingston and his staff for the amazing support over the years.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, August 21st, 2020 at 10:00 am, at the Kelowna Memorial Park Cemetery at 1991 Bernard Avenue, officiated by Father Wayne Pfliger. Due to provincial COVID-19 protocols, the service is by invitation only.

We’re very sorry to hear of Tony’s passing and we’re thinking of you in this difficult time Anna, Lorraine and family. Tony’s generosity will not be forgotten- and we will remember him fondly. PS Tony – thank you for teaching me how to spell Cesare’s name correctly all those years ago.
We are so sorry to hear about uncle Tony’s passing. There are so many good memories of your mom and him at joe rich with the rest of the family. We all had the best lives growing up and it was because of incredible people like your dad who made up our environment. As the torch gets passed we can only honour their memories and try to be as good as they were. Lorraine and Anna we are thinking about you and hope to see you soon. Love Peter Andrea and gabe
