We Remember
BETUZZI, Charles William
—
It is with deep sadness that we inform you of the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and uncle Chuck (Charlie) Betuzzi on March 17, 2013 at Lakeview Lodge in West Kelowna, BC. He was predeceased by his brother John (Emma) Betuzzi, and sisters Mary (Kay) Ongaro, Gene (Rigo) Biollo and Polly (Lacey) Fisher. He is dearly remembered by his wife Merrie Betuzzi, his children Gail (Terry) Willner, Mark (Jennifer) Betuzzi, Larry (Vera) Betuzzi, Jane (Gerry) Kyle, Connie (Bill) Osborne, Kevin (Fay) Betuzzi, Anne (Rob) Boyd, Chris (Suzanne) Betuzzi, Dana (Len) Kruiper, Tim (Cecile) Betuzzi, Paula (Michael) Betuzzi. He was the proud grandfather to twenty-three grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He is survived by his sister Anna (Doug) Grant of Mount Vernon, WA and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was born in Summerland, BC on February 7, 1921. He lived there until the mid 1950’s, playing trumpet for the Penticton Marching Band, helping his dad in the orchard, and attending school in Summerland. During World War II he joined the Royal Canadian Air Force, spending most of the time in Vulcan, AB as a flying officer. Returning to Summerland he again worked in the family orchard, and played in the Summerland Marching Band. Soon after returning from the air force he married Merrie. This past September they celebrated their 65th anniversary. In the mid fifties Chuck bought land in Lakeview Heights, planted an orchard and built a house, raising his family, working the orchard and usually having another job as well, such as working on the ferry or for the “roads” or driving a school bus. He grew a large garden and participated in hunting and fishing, to supply his family with food. Our Lady of Lourdes Church in West Kelowna was a big part of his life. He was an active participant in the Knights of Columbus and helping with all the church activities. He also helped the West Kelowna Food Bank for many years. Dad spent many years as a volunteer fireman in Lakeview Heights.
Chuck and Merrie lived in their home in Lakeview Heights until 2010. They then moved to Westwood in West Kelowna and only recently moved to Lakeview Lodge. The family would like to extend thanks to both places for the wonderful care given. Also thanks to Bayshore for the wonderful care aids that were sent to assist and be companions to Merrie and Chuck. His many friends and relatives are invited to prayers on Monday, April 1, 2013 at 7:00 pm and a funeral mass at 11:00 am on Tuesday, April 2, 2013. Both will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes, 2547 Hebert Road, West Kelowna, BC. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be
made in Chuck’s memory to Development and Peace, 1425 René-Lévesque Blvd West,

Dear Mrs. Betuzzi, all the kids and family,
I am so sorry to hear of the loss of Mr. Betuzzi. Some of my best memories were made at the Betuzzi household. You welcomed all of the neighbourhood kids into your home, and taught us what true kindness, graciousness and generosity is. I know I am a better person today because of your father’s influence. I hope you take some comfort in knowing what a difference he made to those that had the good fortune of knowing him. Warm wishes and kind thoughts to all of you from me and my siblings. Carol
Our deepest condolences. Our family was very close, especially in the early years in builing up lakeview Heights and of course builing the first lady of Lourdes Church. My dad now has another close friend and I am sure will be with our good Lord to meet him at the gates… probably wanting to go hunting! Love to all, expecially to you Chris …. will talk to you soon..

We were just talking at work the other day about people with positive attitudes. One of my co-workers and I both brought up our friendly bus driver, “Mr. Betuzzi”. I’m sure he had stress like every other person but he never let it show. Always so gentle and kind to everyone. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all of the Betuzzi family. Hugs from Ryan & Theresa Naka
Thinking of you all and remembering many wonderful times in Happy Valley, Summerland. Our condolences and prayers are with you at this time.

Thank you to everyone for their kind words. They are truly a help with our loss. They mean so much to all of us. Your memories validate what an amazing, wonderful man he was.
Dear Betuzzi family,
We have so many countless memories of our home in Lakeview. The neighbourhood was a very special place for all of us and Mr Betuzzi was one of the reasons why. He was a very good neighbour to Mom and Dad and they were very grateful for his friendship. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time of change.
Yours truly,
Marguerette Friedt and Sue Grant
My heartfelt sympathy goes out to Anne and the whole family. I remember how welcomed I was always in your home. Mrs. Betuzzi was always so inviting to have a whole gang of us in. Thanks for that. Mr. Betuzzi was our bus driver and in all the years I rode the bus I never heard him yell or be unkind. He and my Dad use to drive us up to Last Mountain to go skiing with a pile of kids. Remember that Anne…back in the days when you could be in the back of the pick up trucks. I have such fond memories of our neighbourhood with this kind man who modeled such gentleness and kindness. He will be missed. Love and hugs Mariellen
Brenda and I would like to send our condolences to the family and to Merry. Charlie will be missed. Love Jim and Brenda Clarke
Charlie was a person that quietly worked for Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, giving his time and talents for his love for The Lord. We knew him only for a few years but he will always be remembered in our hearts. With love and prayers to all the family; he did you proud!
