We Remember

BINETTE McBRIDE, Letisha Leontine

December 5, 1984 — October 7, 2026

Letisha Leontine Binette McBride, passed away unexpectedly on October 7, 2026, in Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada, at the age of 41.

Born on December 5, 1984, in Grande Prairie, Alberta, Letisha built a life marked by creativity, skill, and an uncommon range of talents. There is no easy way to define Letisha as she was always evolving and finding new, unique sides of herself. Her story reflected both passion and imagination, carrying her through several distinct careers and pursuits that showed the breadth of her abilities.

As a child, Letisha had dreams of Olympic gold as she was an award-winning long-distance runner and trained under an Olympic coach. While she never achieved her Olympic dreams, she was always proud of how far she could run, and her feet took her to many different places throughout her life.

For many years, Letisha worked as an accountant. In time, her passion for hula hooping and performing grew into a new direction, and she chose to make art her career. She became an avid hula hooper who taught, performed, and created hula hoops, sharing her knowledge and enthusiasm through both performance and teaching. Her ability as a performer was widely evident.

Her professional life continued to expand in remarkable ways. Letisha went on to become a props master for the local theater and in the film industry, where she had the opportunity to work on many exciting movies and television shows. Her work extended across props, set decoration, and accounting departments, reflecting her versatility and her readiness to contribute wherever her skills were needed. She also loved working in live events and became a stagehand and high rigger for arenas, adding yet another demanding and specialized role to an already varied career. Across these fields, she brought together technical ability, artistic vision, and a willingness to learn and do more.

Outside of her work, Letisha devoted herself to the things she loved most. Letisha was a lover of animals. She always had many pets and cared deeply for animals who needed a loving home. She was known for bringing home pets in need and providing them with love and care from the time they arrived until the time came to say goodbye. This steady commitment to their well-being was an important part of who she was and of the home she created. From a very young age, she always had birds in her life, and now she is able to spread her wings and fly alongside her birds.

Hula hooping and fire performance were among her defining interests, and these pursuits remained an important part of her life. She also enjoyed making resin pendants for friends and family, creating keepsakes intended to last a lifetime. Her creativity was not limited to one medium; she was someone who could craft anything, and that talent touched many parts of her life.

She also had a strong love for horror-inspired aesthetics, and Halloween was one of her favorite holidays. This interest was another expression of her distinctive style and creative spirit, qualities that appeared again and again in her work, hobbies, and the things she made for others.

Letisha is remembered by Andrew McBride, her husband; Connor Durocher, her son; Carol Binette, her mother; Julie & Al McBride, her mother and father-in-law; Robert & Seyvonne McBride, her brother and sister-in-law; and many family and friends in Kelowna, Grande Prairie, and Quebec.

Throughout her life, Letisha brought together artistry, skill, and originality in ways that were entirely her own. Whether she was working in accounting, teaching, performing with a hula hoop, building and supporting productions in theater and film, rigging for live events, lighting up the sky with fireworks, caring for animals, or crafting lasting gifts for those around her, she left a clear impression through the many things she could do and create. Her life stands as a tribute to energy, talent, and creativity expressed across every pursuit she embraced.
