We Remember
BIRD, Robert
—
It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to Robert “Bob” Bird, who suddenly passed away on Thursday, October 5, 2023, in the comfort of his home in Kelowna, British Columbia. He is held dearly and loved in the hearts of his long-time partner of 38 years, Barbara Day; his stepdaughters, Laura (Tom) Dalton and Joan Day; granddaughter Megan Dalton; and his best companion Libbie “Woof!”.
Bob loved his golf and was an avid player, with a low handicap and 12 hole-in-ones. Throughout his years Bob had golf memberships at several golf clubs: Marine Drive Golf Club, Vancouver, BC; Morgan Creek Golf Club, South Surrey, BC; Osoyoos Golf Club; and finally at The Okanagan Golf Club, Kelowna, BC. On these courses, he met several longtime friends.
Bob’s working years were with Canada Safeway in Vancouver as a driver for the distribution center. When he retired from Safeway he worked part-time, as a driver, for Bannister Car Dealership and Budget Rent a Car. Bob found it hard not to keep busy!! This kept him out of car dealerships… people who knew him know what this comment means.
He will be dearly missed by his family and many others.

So sorry to hear about Bob’s passing. He was a fun loving guy. Enjoyed playing golf with him and witnessed one of his many holes in one. Our thoughts are with you and your family…..
Rest in Peace 🙏

Bob was a one of a kind guy
I loved his dry sense of humour, his laugh and smile while on council

Barb &Family, we’re so sorry to hear of Bob’s passing. Over the years since you’ve moved from Osoyoos we think of all those good times we had golfing and dinners with our golfing friends. That was all the way retirements should be. Golf and cars were always a conversation topic Bob loved to talk about. Barb, we’ve always thought we’d get together after our last visit, but sometimes life just gets in the way. Now we feel missed that extra chance to visit you and Bob. We have pictures we want to give you of old golf friends from Osoyoos. Lots of Love…Larry&Maureen.
