We Remember
BLACKBURN, David
May 15, 1942 — September 25, 2023
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the unexpected passing of our father, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, and uncle. Born in the midst of World War II in Dorking, England in 1942, David migrated to Montreal in 1946 and later settled in Vancouver in 1957. In his later years, David made his way to the Okanagan and finally called Kelowna his forever home. All while living an adventurous life heliskiing and traveling, he also dedicated many years of his life to working at CT & S and BC Tel until his retirement at the age of 55.
David was preceded in death by his parents Jack and Eileen, his brother-in-law Don, his former brother-in-law Chuck, and his faithful companion Nanook. Left to cherish his memory are his adored daughter Hayley, much-loved granddaughter Ava, his siblings Marilyn, Phil (Julie), and Karen (Gord), as well as his cousin Colin and numerous nieces and nephews.
David had an immense passion for life, particularly when it came to spending time at the lake, engaging in activities such as water skiing, boating, and hosting joyous gatherings at his lake house, where all were warmly welcomed. In his 80s, he continued to enjoy snow skiing alongside Hayley and Ava at Big White. In addition, David took pride in being the author of the published book, The Love Garden. His countless friends will deeply miss the cherished moments they shared with him throughout the years.
A celebration of David’s extraordinary life will be held next spring, allowing all who knew and loved him to come together in remembrance and honor his remarkable journey.
