We Remember

BLUNDELL, Kenneth “Ken” Wade

April 12, 1955 — March 24, 2023

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our father Ken. Born on April 12, 1955, in Duncan, BC, Ken passed away on March 24, 2023, in Kelowna, BC. Ken is survived by his former wife, Vicki, and his 5 children, Heather (Jason), Wade (Angie), Stephanie (Colin), Sterling (Jessica), and Leighten (Kylie); his brother, Dave (Kathy); sister, Karen (Perry); his loving mother, Louise; and 13 grandchildren, Straith, Isaiah, Ella, Sophia, Ellie, Livvy, Addie, Logan, Camryn, Ethan, Etta, Jude, and Elijah. He is also survived by nieces and nephews, cousins, and extended family. He was predeceased by his father, Ron Blundell.

Ken held many titles in his life: road builder; business owner; missionary; and most importantly, Father. Though born in Duncan, BC, Ken was a true son of Pemberton, BC. He moved there as a young teen where he, alongside his father Ron and brother Dave, owned and operated Ron Blundell & Sons Logging. He went on to be an independent business owner in Pemberton with the purchase of a hardware store, which later became Pemberton Valley Home Hardware & Building Supplies. Ken left Pemberton in 1993 and moved to the Philippines; Salmon Arm, BC; Barbados; Water Valley, AB; and finally he returned to settle in Salmon Arm.

Ken “Dad” was a true outdoor enthusiast and an avid bush pilot. He enjoyed taking his family and friends on the most spectacular adventures one could only dream of. He had a heart to help those in need through mission trips around the world. He was the guy that never sat still and was always on the go, from his 2-minute phone calls to his surprise visits (some even before the average person woke up)! He left us far too soon, but he left a legacy through his children.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Hospice House Kelowna in Ken’s name.

Ken’s family will be hosting a Celebration of Life on SATURDAY, APRIL 15, 2023, at 12:00 PM. The Celebration will be held at THE PRESTIGE HARBOURFRONT RESORT in Salmon Arm, 251 Harbourfront Drive, Salmon Arm, BC.

Our Condolences to Vicki, Heather, Wade, Stephanie, Sterling, Leighten.
Sylvia and I are so sorry to hear the loss of your Dad. We remember him as a kind, caring person who was full of fun! I met your Dad for the first time when he was dating your Mom (New West and Pemberton). Also helped grandpa Jack to frame your house in Pemberton by the river. Lot’s of fond memories! Thought I would leave a familiar scripture with you, that has comfort and hope in sad times (Revelation 21:4)
All our love Sylvia and Robert Alexander
