Dear Elaine,
I am so sorry to hear about your big sister but am at the same time grateful that you have let me know about her passing. I had lost touch with my older cousin Olivia since I was at home in my teens some 40 years ago. What I remember most is the drive from Burnaby along Grandview Highway and the left hand turn at the big ‘Olive Jar’ to get to her place. On the day that she passed away I was at Wexford Creek Care Home where I work as a clinical care coordinator. I was having some fun with my staff, mimicking one of our nurses from Eastern Europe, and quoting what I heard one of our aunties say, (could very well have been your mom) on her wedding day when my mom was only a baby, perhaps left alone while everyone was busy with the importance of the day:
“And Toni was cryink!”
Olivia especially appreciated that accent and could turn it on with the best of the Stradeskie girls. As the youngest cousin, I most likely have had the least exposure to the Austrian/Canadian heritage but cherish that I heard our mothers together so many times.
In any case, you need to know that my thoughts and prayers are with you and your brothers. I will ask our own Fr Krystian here at St Peter’s Nanaimo, (himself from Poland), to offer mass for the repose of her dear soul.
Love and blessings to all,
Cousin Melanie, (Ed and children)
Condolences to David, Elaine & Eugene & their Families on the loss of Olivia.

Dear Elaine and Family,
Both Craig and myself were saddened to about the passing of our Auntie Olivia. She was a very nice lady.
I did not get to spend a lot of time with her but the little time we had together was always fun, I thought she had a great laugh. Again she was very nice to me and Craig ( so was Uncle Voya ) and she will be missed.
