We Remember
BOTHAM, John “Jack” Annand
—
Passed away peacefully with daughter Penni and son-in-law Jack by his side on Saturday, August 17, 2013 at the age of 82. Survived by his loving wife Lois, daughter Penni (Jack) May, grandsons Tim (Norma Jean) May, Rusty (Lindsay) May and their families, his sister Iris Snook and many dearly loved nieces and nephews. Sadly predeceased by his brothers Mick and Glen and sister Frankie. Dad was born in Moose Jaw, SK on November 17, 1930 and moved with his family to Kelowna in the 1940’s, graduating from KSS in 1948. His life long career was with the Ministry of Environment as an engineering technician. Dad’s passions were basketball and golf and he was a member of the Kelowna Golf and Country Club for over 40 years. Mom and dad happily spent their winters months living in Kaui. Dad was madly in love with my mom and remained her dedicated and loving companion for 49 years. To me, he was an amazing father and I will miss him every day. He was also a fun loving uncle and a true friend. Jack and I would like to extend special thanks to the staff at Interior Health, KGH and Brandt’s Creek Mews, including Krystle, Dr. Eliason and Dr. MacKenzie for their kindness and exceptional care of Dad. At his request there will be no service.
“I love you more, Dad.”

Our deepest sympathy to all the family.
Jack spent many Vancouver weekends with us in his single days. That was a time of early stero systems and Jack was passionate about listening to jazz with us. Even today we will hear a tune from that era and say remember how Jack Botham loved that particular melody. We have great memories of Jack from that time in our lives.
Penni& Jack,
Thinking of you in your time of sorrow, our memories will be cherished forever. Jack was a great man
On behalf of the Monday Senior Men’s group, Kelowna Golf & C.C., we extend our sincere condolences to Lois and family.

Lois and Penni
So many fond memories, Jack getting me into golf, Jack’s homemade beer, road trips when we worked together, sharing more than a few glasses of red wine, Jack (and Lois)always so interested and caring about what I was doing.
Thinking of you

It was with sadness that I learned of the passing of Jack Annand Botham. I knew him as a technician, bookie, brew-master,friend and family man.
As a technician with the Ministry of Environment in the Okanagan Region, he played an important role in the regulation of water use in the valley. He developed a dam safety inspection program in the Region that was later expanded to cover the whole province. His work was always thorough and his relationship with the public was both professional and fair.
When I lived in Kelowna we watched many football games together. Over the last 45 years we have had a small wager on many televised games, particularly Monday Night Football. In some circles he was known as “Nick the Greek” for his uncanny ability to handicap big football games. I was busy girding myself for another season when I learned of his passing.
The beer and wines brewed in Jack’s basement were legendary far and wide for their flavour and strength. I never met anyone who could drink a full bottle at a sitting and then remember his own name.
Jack was always a pleasure to be with. His wry sense of humour and his clever wit made time spent with him enjoyable and often memorable. He was a true and loyal friend. I already miss him.
Jack’s first priority was always his wife, Lois, his daughter, Penni, and his extended family. To all of them I offer my deepest sympathy.
Penni and Jack, I’m so sorry to hear about your loss… I’m thinking about you during this difficult time and sending you love and prayers… love Rolie
