We Remember

BOTTOMLEY, Harold “Hal”

1946 – 2022

With deep sadness, the family of Hal Bottomley share news of his death on May 25, 2022. Our beloved husband, brother, father, uncle, and grandfather was predeceased by his parents, Joan and Hal. And, he will always be loved and remembered by his loving wife Darlene; siblings Dennis (Val), Pamela (Doug), and Linda (Paul); children Allison (Brad), Laura, Corey, and Scotty (Rachel); nephews Chuck, Jeff, Tristan, and Jesse; grandchildren Sawyer, Iris, Aldous, Clara, Molly, and Jack; and extended family and friends.

Hal was born and raised in Winnipeg, MB before living in Prince George, Kamloops and, for the last 40 years, Kelowna. Hal had a lasting impression on those who knew him and formed diverse and enduring friendships throughout his life that he valued tremendously.

Hal’s greatest pride were his children and grandchildren, to whom he will always be a role model and inspiration for his quiet generosity, unwavering support, authentic curiosity, thoughtful engagement with the world, and commitment to a life well-lived.

By Hal’s request, there will be no service; the family will gather privately in celebration and remembrance of the remarkable impact he had on each of us.

Our family wishes to thank and appreciate Dr Halperin and Dr Erasmus for the wonderful care over the years.

For those wishing to remember and acknowledge Hal, please consider a donation to the BC Heart and Stroke Foundation.

  • Pat Chisholm says:

Darlene, I am so sad to hear of Hal’s passing. He was a remarkable boss. He just gave a look and you knew you had said something either stupid or brilliant. He made me work hard to try for brilliant. We had lots of fun times too and Hal always supported all the crazy social events we planned. He was a wonderful man. My heart aches.
