We Remember
BOWERS, Clarence Freeman (John)
—
Went to be with the Lord suddenly and unexpectedly on Friday, August 12th 2016. Survived by his loving wife Gwen; daughters Laura Bowers (Brad Degen), Roberta Lynn Shaw (Derek), Carrie Ann Bowers and Nicole Louise Bowers all of Kelowna; sons Bob Bowers (Marla) of Chilliwack and Jay Roth (Jessica) of Edmonton; 7 grandchildren John and Chantel Bowers, Keegan and Caleb Shaw, and Matthew, Dustin and Brandon Bowers; numerous brothers and sisters, his many nieces and nephews and his extended family in Newfoundland. Predeceased by his son John Jr., brother Terry and sister Dorothy. Clarence served with the Canadian Armed Forces for 25 years as a paratrooper. He had been to several different countries during his service and had many great stories to tell. He loved playing his guitar and loved a variety of music. Clarence enjoyed fishing with his daughter and son in the summer and in the winter he was an avid hockey fan, “Go Detroit Red Wings.” He was a family man who would do anything for you, who also had his faith and church for extra support. His very infectious smile and warm snug hugs will be sorely missed. A Funeral Service will be held at Windsor Pentecostal Church in Grand Falls, Newfoundland. Service date and time to be announced. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice. If you wish to send a condolence, post photos or share a memory, please scroll down the page to the area called “Share Your Condolences.”

Saddened and grieved by my brothers passing. He was a special and I hope to meet you in heaven on that glorious day. Love you always. Sis
Gwen,
Gail and I are so saddened to hear of Clarence’s passing. Such mixed emotions when someone you care about leaves this scene and yet enters into glory and the presence of His Lord and Saviour. So many great memories playing music with Clarence in Edmonton. His musical ability was amazing and I so appreciated it when he would come with me to entertain at senior’s centers and care facilities. Perhaps someday when I join him in heaven he will finally be able to teach me some of those fabulous songs he could play so well and which I could never quite grasp. We are praying for you and trust that God will give you and all of Clarence’s family strength and peace in this time of such intentsified emotional stress. God’s riches blessing on you. Love in the Lord, Bob and Gail.
Thank-you for your prayers. One day your life is going great and the next day it is turned upside down in the blink of an eye . It was our anniversary on Sunday. He will be missed
We enjoyed clarence and his guitar at our fiddlers jam night. He always tried to learn the chords and had a great sense of humour. Wish we knew him longer.
My deepest sympathies to Gwen and family from a Kelowna Old Time Fiddlers bass player who enjoyed my very short musical time together with Clarence.
