We Remember
BOWLES, Hazel Mae (nee Sleeman)
May 24, 1923 — October 7, 2018
Hazel passed away peacefully on October 7th, 2018 at the age of 95. She is survived by her son Roger (Harriet), her daughter Sandra (Ralph), and her grandchildren Krista (John), Bryan and Christine (Oliver). She was fortunate to have four great-grandchildren – Dylan, Isabelle, Max and Jack. She is also survived by two sisters, Janice and Ardelle, and several nieces and nephews. Hazel was predeceased in 2016 by her husband of 74 years, Roy, by her parents Pearl and Lewis Sleeman, and sisters and brothers Evelyn, Lorna, Shirley, Doug, Johnny and Gordon. Hazel was very kind and outgoing and made many long-lasting friendships over the years. She was lucid and kept her sense of humour, liked to knit, have a good game of cribbage and read. She enjoyed speaking with anyone who came by her door at Brookhaven Care Centre in West Kelowna. Our many thanks to the staff and caregivers for their kind attention to her. Hazel will be cremated and placed beside her husband in Riverside Cemetery near Swan River, Manitoba. If friends so wish, donations may be made in Hazel’s name to the Swan River Hospital, PO Box 1450, Swan River, Manitoba R0L 1Z0 or to a charity of choice, in lieu of flowers. Hazel was a loving cousin I only got to know in our later years. Hazel was always caring, kind and welcoming. We shared a special bond.
May God comfort you at this sad time. I, too, will miss your dear mother she was was such a lovely lady and a very good friend.. Rest in Peace dear Hazel.
