We Remember
BRADSHAW, Lawrence
June 8, 1939 — February 9, 2016
Lawrence Bradshaw, seeker of truth and wisdom lived life to the fullest and with kindness and caring for his family and friends. Lawrence’s philosophy was that all people are equal and should be treated with respect no matter what their circumstances and he strove to live up to that standard in all that he did.
Lawrence’s pride and joy was his family—his wife Sandra Bradshaw, daughter Alysa Bradshaw, son Jeremy Bradshaw and grandsons Jesse Bradshaw and Dustin Hourie. There were so many happy memories that they will cherish always.
Lawrence’s life was an adventure which included traveling across Canada many times, trips to Great Britain, Alaska, California, Jamaica and for those who know the story a 24 hour turn around trip from Toronto to the “windy city” and back. Along the way he worked with and trained sulky horses, was a key grip on at least one movie set, construction supervisor, postman, mushroom farmer, log house builder, maintenance man and plumber for Nechako School District, and drug and alcohol street worker/counsellor.
In recent years Lawrence’s favorite haunt was the Bean Scene on Bernard Street in downtown Kelowna. He was a regular there and he spread his joy of life to all and sundry whether it was with a hug or an encouraging word.
Lawrence will be missed and his precious words of wisdom will remain in the hearts of all he touched—a legacy to be proud of. A celebration of Lawrence’s life will be held in the spring. Date and time to be announced. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Lawrence’s name to the Kelowna food bank or the Kelowna Women’s Shelter. You and your beloved husband offered such warm hospitality and friendship during my time in Kelowna. What a gift to have such special people in my life. I’ll miss Lawrence’s gentle yet passionate sharing of wisdom and experiences. His sense of humour and joy of life were contagious and live on in those he touched. Blessings of love and strength during this time of grief.
Dearest Sandra – please accept our deepest sympathy on the loss of your dear husband, Lawrence.
Lawrence was kind and gentle, quick to laugh, with a bright and happy spirit. He was unique, one of a kind
who shared his wisdom and caring with all he knew. Lawrence was my inspiration to study “Healing Touch”
and I will always be grateful to him for that. There was a special light around Lawrence that
we know burns on in another realm. We love you and will always miss you. all our love to you, Sandra
The Well of Grief
Those who will not slip beneath
the still surface on the well of grief
turning downward through its black water
to the place we cannot breathe
will never know the source from which we drink,
the secret water, cold and clear,
nor find in the darkness glimmering
the small round coins
thrown by those who wished for something else.
