We Remember
BRAID, Kathleen Diane
—
Kathleen Diane Braid died just before 7 pm on Saturday, August 24, 2013 in Kelowna’s Hospice House. Family and friends surrounded Kathy as she took her last breath.
She was born 63 years ago in Edmonton, Alberta.
Kathy was single, no children, but she had an extended family that reached back to childhood and across Canada today.
She leaves behind the Gillis clan: Hylda, Glen, Jeff and Patsy, their sons John and Calum; Alan Johnson, and her birth sister Linda N. Riddell (Einar Hansen) of North Vancouver, BC.
Kathy’s mantra was “Never Give Up”.
Her belief was that “Attitude is more important than the past, education, money, circumstances; than what other people think, say or do. Attitude is more important than appearance, skill or giftedness. It will make or break a company, a church, a home.
The remarkable thing is we have a choice every day regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past. We cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude.” If you wish to send a condolence, post photos or share a memory, please scroll down the page to the area called “Share Your Condolences.”

I knew Kathy many years ago for a little while, and have never forgotten her, she was one who stays in your heart forever. So sorry for your loss.
Kathy and I worked together in the early 80’s and became good friends, but we lost touch with each other. I was saddened to hear of her passing. My sincere condolences.
To Kathy’s dear family,
I met Kathy just a few short months ago and we connected in no time! It was a privilege to walk a little with Kathy as she faced the disease and we would get out and literally walk – she would check her posture, we would laugh, there would be stories and dreams!
I am thankful to have known Kathy – the memories are sweet!
Thank you for the emails, Linda. My thoughts and prayers are with you all! Judy
