Khushreet Kaur Brar passed away on June 7, 2025, at the young age of 16. We remember the courage and determination she showed as she faced a rare blood platelet disorder.

Born February 16, 2009, Khushreet’s disorder was diagnosed immediately. The deficiency of platelets, which are essential for blood clotting, meant she was ever prone to easy bruising, and there was always a risk of bleeding. While her mind remained sharp, the condition had a severe impact on her daily life: She needed blood transfusions, and she wasn’t able to participate in many physical activities. While other children ran, played, and fully enjoyed life, Khushreet had to avoid anything that risked injury, and she spent a lot of her time in the hospital.  Such would be a struggle for any child, but she but always maintained her courage as her family stayed by her side. Although she could not physically participate in the activities she wanted to, Khushreet never lost heart. She found joy in simple moments – walking outdoors, participating in cultural ceremonies, wearing traditional Punjabi clothes, and spending time with her family.

Khushreet developed a special bond with all her relatives. Though she didn’t talk much, her love transcended words. We remember that picture where she sits with her uncle Gurmit, holding a prayer plate – showing how actively she participated in family traditions.

She was always happy during family gatherings, and her smile would light up the entire room. Her love for her uncle and aunt, who raised her as their daughter, was immeasurable. The deep, gentle smile was always a mirror of the beauty of her heart.

Khushreet’s life: A smiling girl in outdoor nature, participating in cultural ceremonies in traditional Punjabi clothes, spending happy moments with her family, and yes, fighting her biggest battle on a hospital bed. Khushreet’s life teaches us that it is possible to maintain a smile and courage even in the face of life’s greatest challenges. Her body may have been weak, but her spirit was very strong.

When Khushreet was born, the whole family welcomed her with great joy, with many hopes and dreams. Although challenges came with her arrival, she still made her special place as the first daughter after five generations, and settled in our hearts forever.

As we bid her farewell, we celebrate every moment of her life, her courage despite her challenges, and the treasure of her memories in our hearts. Khushreet Kaur Brar taught us a lot in her short life. She taught us that one should maintain a smile in every situation. She taught us that it is possible to be happy – even while accepting one’s limitations. And most of all, she taught us that love is the most precious gift of life.

Khushreet’s spirit will always live in our hearts. Whenever we look at a picture of her smiling in her traditional Punjabi attire, or see that toy she loved to play with, we will remember her courage and radiance.

As the first daughter of the Brar family, Khushreet Kaur Brar brought new light to our family after five generations of waiting. She paved the way for her sister Aishveer Kaur Brar. Her presence filled our family with continuous happiness, and her memory will always strengthen us.

To our beloved daughter: your memory will live forever in our hearts, and the story of your life will be told generation after generation in our family.

On behalf of the Brar family, we would like to sincerely thank all the doctors and medical teams who cared for Khushreet. Their dedicated service and empathy made Khushreet’s sixteen years of life possible. Because of their expertise and caution, Khushreet avoided many difficulties and had the opportunity to enjoy life. The hours spent in the hospital, blood transfusions, and constant medical monitoring were all part of Khushreet’s life. And through it all, we will always be grateful for the kindness and help of the hospital staff.

ਅੱਜ ਅਸੀਂ ਇਕੱਠੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਾਂ ਨਾ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਖੁਸ਼ਰੀਤ ਕੌਰ ਬਰਾੜ ਦੇ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਨੁਕਸਾਨ ਦੇ ਸੋਗ ਵਿੱਚ, ਸਗੋਂ ਇਸ ਸੁੰਦਰ, ਨਰਮ ਦਿਲ ਵਾਲੀ ਰੂਹ ਦੀ ਜੀਵਨ ਯਾਤਰਾ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਰਧਾਂਜਲੀ ਦੇਣ ਲਈ ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਸਾਡੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਨੂੰ ਸੋਲਾਂ ਸਾਲਾਂ ਦੀ ਗਿਣਤੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੀ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਪਿਆਰ ਅਤੇ ਯਾਦਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਭਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਖੁਸ਼ਰੀਤ ਦਾ ਜਨਮ 16 ਫਰਵਰੀ 2009 ਨੂੰ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ, ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਭੋਲੀ ਰੂਹ ਨੇ 7 ਜੂਨ 2025 ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਾਮ 8 ਵਜੇ ਸਾਡੇ ਨੂੰ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾ ਲਈ ਅਲਵਿਦਾ ਕਹਿ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਬਰਾੜ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੰਜ ਪੀੜ੍ਹੀਆਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਜੰਮੀ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਧੀ, ਖੁਸ਼ਰੀਤ ਇਕ ਬਹੁਤ ਵੱਡੀ ਵਰਦਾਨ ਸੀ। ਉਸ ਦੀ ਛੋਟੀ ਭੈਣ ਆਸ਼ਵੀਰ ਕੌਰ ਬਰਾੜ ਨਾਲ, ਉਸ ਨੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਦੇ ਲਈ ਨਵੀਂ ਆਸ ਅਤੇ ਖੁਸ਼ੀਆਂ ਲਿਆਂਦੀਆਂ।
ਬਰਾੜ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਲਈ ਇਕ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਤੋਹਫ਼ਾ
ਖੁਸ਼ਰੀਤ ਕੌਰ ਬਰਾੜ ਦਾ ਜਨਮ ਹੀ ਇਕ ਕਰਾਮਾਤ ਸੀ। ਪੰਜ ਪੀੜ੍ਹੀਆਂ ਬਾਅਦ, ਬਰਾੜ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਦੀ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਧੀ ਵਜੋਂ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਆਮਦ ਨੇ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਦਿਲਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਖੁਸ਼ੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਭਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਉਸ ਦੇ ਚਾਚੇ ਗੁਰਮੀਤ ਅਤੇ ਚਾਚੀ ਮਨਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਧੀ ਵਾਂਗ ਪਿਆਰ ਕੀਤਾ, ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਭਵਿੱਖ ਲਈ ਖੁੱਲ੍ਹੇ ਦਿਲ ਨਾਲ ਦੁਆਵਾਂ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ।
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਬਚਪਨ ਦੀਆਂ ਤਸਵੀਰਾਂ ਇੱਕ ਅਜਿਹੀ ਬੱਚੀ ਦੀ ਕਹਾਣੀ ਦੱਸਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਮਾਸੂਮ ਮੁਸਕਰਾਹਟ ਅਤੇ ਉੱਚੀਆਂ ਖ਼ਾਹਿਸ਼ਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਖੁਸ਼ ਕੀਤਾ। ਚਾਹੇ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੀ ਗੱਡੀ ਨਾਲ ਖੇਡਦੀ ਸੀ, ਸਕੂਲ ਦੀ ਯੂਨੀਫਾਰਮ ਪਾ ਕੇ ਫੋਟੋ ਖਿਚਵਾਉਂਦੀ ਸੀ, ਜਾਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਟੀਚਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਲਿਖਦੀ ਸੀ, ਹਰ ਤਸਵੀਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਰਾਰਤ ਅਤੇ ਮਾਸੂਮੀਅਤ ਸਾਫ਼ ਝਲਕਦੀ ਸੀ।
ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਲਈ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਮਹੱਤਤਾ ਬਹੁਤ ਵੱਡੀ ਸੀ। ਪੰਜ ਪੀੜ੍ਹੀਆਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਧੀ ਹੋਣ ਕਰਕੇ, ਖੁਸ਼ਰੀਤ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਦੀ ਨਹੀਂ, ਸਗੋਂ ਪੂਰੇ ਖ਼ਾਨਦਾਨ ਦੀ ਆਸ ਸੀ। ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਨਰਮੀ, ਸ਼ਰਧਾ ਅਤੇ ਖੁਸ਼ੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਜਿੱਤ ਲਏ।
ਅਣਕਹੀ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਵਾਲੀ ਨਰਮ ਰੂਹ
ਜਿਹੜੇ ਲੋਕ ਖੁਸ਼ਰੀਤ ਨੂੰ ਨੇੜਿਓਂ ਜਾਣਦੇ ਸਨ, ਉਹ ਜਾਣਦੇ ਸਨ ਕਿ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਚੁੱਪ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ਾਂਤ ਸੁਭਾਅ ਕੋਈ ਕਮੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ, ਸਗੋਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਵਿਚਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਡੂੰਘਾਈ ਅਤੇ ਸਮਝਦਾਰੀ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਬਿੰਬ ਸੀ। ਉਹ ਜ਼ਿਆਦਾ ਬੋਲਦੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ, ਪਰ ਉਸ ਦੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ, ਮੁਸਕਰਾਹਟਾਂ, ਅਤੇ ਛੋਟੀਆਂ-ਛੋਟੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਸੁਣਾਈ ਦਿੰਦੀ ਸੀ।
ਉਸ ਦਾ ਆਪਣਾ ਇੱਕ ਅਨੋਖਾ ਤਰੀਕਾ ਸੀ ਸੰਚਾਰ ਦਾ। ਜਦੋਂ ਵੀ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਚਾਚੇ-ਚਾਚੀ ਨਾਲ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਕਰਦੀ ਸੀ, ਉਹ ਉਸ ਦੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਹੀ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਸਮਝ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਸਨ। ਉਸ ਨੇ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਨੂੰ ਬਹੁਤ ਡੂੰਘਾਈ ਨਾਲ ਸਮਝਿਆ, ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਢੰਗ ਨਾਲ ਸਭ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
ਪਰਿਵਾਰਕ ਮੌਕਿਆਂ ’ਤੇ ਖੁਸ਼ੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਦਾਤਾ
ਭਾਵੇਂ ਖੁਸ਼ਰੀਤ ਆਮ ਤੌਰ ’ਤੇ ਚੁੱਪ-ਚਾਪ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਸੀ, ਪਰ ਪਰਿਵਾਰਕ ਮੌਕਿਆਂ ’ਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਦੇਖਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਸੀ। ਉਹ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਮੈਂਬਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਖੁਸ਼ੀਆਂ ਮਨਾਉਂਦੀ, ਗੀਤ ਗਾਉਂਦੀ, ਅਤੇ ਹਰ ਇਕ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਪਲ ਨੂੰ ਯਾਦਗਾਰ ਬਣਾ ਦਿੰਦੀ ਸੀ। ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਦੀਆਂ ਤਸਵੀਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਮੁਸਕਰਾਹਟ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਖੁਸ਼ ਕਰ ਦਿੰਦੀ ਸੀ।
ਉਸ ਨੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ ਰੱਖਿਆ, ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਸ਼ਰਧਾ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਉਸ ਦੀ ਮੌਜੂਦਗੀ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਲਈ ਬਹੁਤ ਮਹੱਤਵਪੂਰਨ ਸੀ, ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਜਾਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਵੀ ਉਸ ਦੀਆਂ ਯਾਦਾਂ ਸਾਡੇ ਦਿਲਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਿੰਦਾ ਰਹਿਣਗੀਆਂ।
ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇ ਸਾਦੇ ਪਲਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਖੁਸ਼ੀਆਂ ਲੱਭਣਾ
ਖੁਸ਼ਰੀਤ ਨੂੰ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦੇ ਸਾਦੇ ਪਲਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਖੁਸ਼ੀਆਂ ਲੱਭਣ ਦੀ ਸਮਝ ਸੀ। ਉਹ ਘਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੈਠ ਕੇ ਕਿਤਾਬਾਂ ਪੜ੍ਹਦੀ, ਸੰਗੀਤ ਸੁਣਦੀ, ਜਾਂ ਬਾਗ਼ ਵਿੱਚ ਝੂਲੇ ’ਤੇ ਝੂਲਦੀ। ਉਸ ਦੀ ਨਿਮਰਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਨੇ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਦਿਲਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਛੂਹ ਲਿਆ।
ਉਸ ਨੇ ਕਦੇ ਵੀ ਦੋਸਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਗਿਣਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਮਹੱਤਵ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਉਸ ਨੇ ਘੱਟ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਗੂੜ੍ਹੇ ਸੰਬੰਧ ਬਣਾਏ, ਪਰ ਉਹ ਸੰਬੰਧ ਬਹੁਤ ਮਜ਼ਬੂਤ ਅਤੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਭਰੇ ਸਨ। ਉਸ ਨੇ ਸਦਾ ਸੱਚਾਈ ਅਤੇ ਵਫ਼ਾਦਾਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਤਰਜੀਹ ਦਿੱਤੀ।
ਮੁਸ਼ਕਲਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਾਹਮਣਾ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਵੀ ਮਜ਼ਬੂਤ
ਖੁਸ਼ਰੀਤ ਨੇ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੁਸ਼ਕਲਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਾਹਮਣਾ ਬਹੁਤ ਹੌਂਸਲੇ ਨਾਲ ਕੀਤਾ। ਉਸ ਦੀ ਹਸਪਤਾਲ ਦੀ ਤਸਵੀਰ, ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਹ ਗਿਟਾਰ ਵਜਾ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਹਿੰਮਤ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ੌਕ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਕ ਹੈ। ਉਸ ਨੇ ਦੁੱਖਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੀ ਆਪਣੀ ਰੂਹ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਗੀਤ ਨਾਲ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ ਰੱਖਿਆ, ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਹੌਂਸਲਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
ਉਸ ਦੀ ਮਜ਼ਬੂਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਹੌਂਸਲਾ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਲਈ ਮਿਸਾਲ ਸੀ। ਉਹ ਕਦੇ ਵੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਦੁੱਖਾਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਬਹੁਤਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਹਿੰਦੀ ਸੀ, ਪਰ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਾਂਤ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਤਾ ਨੇ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ।
ਪਿਆਰ ਅਤੇ ਨਰਮੀ ਦੀ ਵਿਰਾਸਤ
ਅੱਜ ਜਦੋਂ ਅਸੀਂ ਖੁਸ਼ਰੀਤ ਕੌਰ ਬਰਾੜ ਨੂੰ ਅਲਵਿਦਾ ਕਹਿ ਰਹੇ ਹਾਂ, ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਯਾਦ ਸਾਡੇ ਦਿਲਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾ ਲਈ ਜਿੰਦਾ ਰਹੇਗੀ। ਉਸ ਨੇ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਸਿਖਾਇਆ ਕਿ ਪਿਆਰ, ਨਰਮੀ, ਅਤੇ ਸੱਚਾਈ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਡੀਆਂ ਤਾਕਤਾਂ ਹਨ। ਉਸ ਦਾ ਸੁਭਾਅ, ਉਸ ਦੀਆਂ ਯਾਦਾਂ, ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਸਾਡੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾ ਇਕੱਠਾ ਰੱਖੇਗਾ।
ਖੁਸ਼ਰੀਤ ਨੇ ਪੰਜ ਪੀੜ੍ਹੀਆਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਧੀ ਹੋਣ ਦਾ ਮਾਣ ਪਾਇਆ, ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਛੋਟੀ ਭੈਣ ਆਸ਼ਵੀਰ ਕੌਰ ਬਰਾੜ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਦੀ ਇਸ ਵਿਰਾਸਤ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਂਭਣ ਦਾ ਮੌਕਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਉਸ ਦੀ ਮੌਜੂਦਗੀ ਸਾਡੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਲਈ ਬਹੁਤ ਮਹੱਤਵਪੂਰਨ ਸੀ, ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਯਾਦ ਸਾਡੇ ਦਿਲਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾ ਜਿੰਦਾ ਰਹੇਗੀ।
ਅੰਤ: ਇੱਕ ਚਾਨਣ ਜੋ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾ ਚਮਕਦਾ ਰਹੇਗਾ
ਖੁਸ਼ਰੀਤ ਕੌਰ ਬਰਾੜ ਦੀ ਸਰੀਰਕ ਮੌਜੂਦਗੀ ਤਾਂ ਸਾਡੇ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਚਲੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਰੋਸ਼ਨੀ ਸਾਡੇ ਦਿਲਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾ ਲਈ ਜਿੰਦਾ ਰਹੇਗੀ। ਉਸ ਨੇ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਸਿਖਾਇਆ ਕਿ ਪਿਆਰ, ਨਰਮੀ, ਅਤੇ ਸੱਚਾਈ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਡੀਆਂ ਤਾਕਤਾਂ ਹਨ।
ਉਸ ਦੀ ਯਾਦ ਸਾਡੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾ ਇਕੱਠਾ ਰੱਖੇਗੀ, ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਰੂਹ ਸਾਡੇ ਦਿਲਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾ ਜਿੰਦਾ ਰਹੇਗੀ। ਪੰਜ ਪੀੜ੍ਹੀਆਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਧੀ, ਖੁਸ਼ਰੀਤ ਕੌਰ ਬਰਾੜ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਗੋਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਅਤ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਵਿਰਾਸਤ ਅਤੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਸਾਡੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾ ਜੀਉਂਦਾ ਰਹੇਗਾ।
ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਕਾ ਖਾਲਸਾ, ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਕੀ ਫਤਹਿ।
ਖੁਸ਼ਰੀਤ ਕੌਰ ਬਰਾੜ ਦੀ ਆਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਮਿਲੇ।
