We Remember

BRATANIC, Stanislav “Stan”
December 8, 1935 — March 21, 2025
With deep sadness, we announce that Stan Bratanic passed away peacefully in his sleep on March 21, 2025, at the age of 89.
He is survived by Ethel, his wife of 60 years, and his daughter Teresa (Glen) Haasdyk.
Born in Slovenia on December 8, 1935, Stanislav’s life was marked by a deep love for the outdoors and a strong work ethic.
He treasured his time spent fishing, whether it was casting lines into the ocean waters of Tofino, relaxing by a mountain lake, or braving the cold for ice fishing. His connection with nature ran deep.
Professionally, Stanislav dedicated over 30 years of his life to the City of Kelowna, working as the head carpenter and as a shop steward for CUPE.
In his personal life, Stanislav found enjoyment in the simple pleasures. He loved to visit casinos near and far. When at home, he could be found tending to his garden, growing beautiful flowers and nourishing vegetables, which brought him peace and contentment.
