We Remember

BREGOLISSE, Daniel Arthur

June 2, 1970 — May 14, 2026

On May 14th, our beloved husband, devoted father, loving son and brother – and the world’s best handyman – went to find peace with the Lord. Daniel (Dan) was born in Kelowna, the middle child to Art and Dorothy Bregolisse. He and his sister, Lisa, and brother, John, enjoyed carefree days on their bikes and every summer in the backyard pool. Dan’s skills at building anything, fixing anything and creating whatever his family or friends needed were limitless. He was humble about his talents and often completed these projects anonymously.

Dan found himself a father to Jacob in his early 20’s and devoted himself to providing his boy with his time and attention. His parents, Art and Dorothy, tirelessly supported Dan and Jacob (Jake).  Work on the assembly line at Western Star trucks proved to be an important time in Dan’s life. He thoroughly enjoyed the camaraderie despite the repetitive work. Several years later, Dan welcomed Jennifer and her son, Nathan, into their lives. The family grew with the birth of Nick. Dan continued his varied career pursuits by becoming a real estate agent and then a building manager at Sunset Waterfront Resort, a role that spanned nearly two decades.

Dan spent several years sharing custody of his sons when a move to Dilworth Mountain prompted a whole new chapter of his life. Across the street, Doris was raising two daughters, Emily and Megan, on her own. Dan told Doris that one night, he wished on a shooting star for a way to win her love… and by 2012, Dan’s wish came true. Dan and Doris married and merged their families into one home. Family and faith became the cornerstone of their lives. With God’s divine grace, they welcomed their son, Max, two years later. Dan lovingly recalled naming their last child based on reaching their household-child limit. The Bregolisse home, brimming with exuberant teens and a toddler, offered years of endless family milestones, parties and hundreds of shared meals. Dan thoroughly enjoyed being a father and was immensely proud of all the children he helped raise.

While often seen as stoic and quiet in a room of strangers, Dan felt everything in his lived-experience with a depth that few understood – or knew about. His sudden loss is devastating and heartbreaking for all who knew and loved him, especially his dedicated and loving wife Doris.

Dan is survived by his wife, Doris; children Jake, Emily (Trenton), Nathan, Megan (Nick), Nick (Deb-Jerie), Max and dog Molly; sister Lisa (Doug) Liebbrand and their children Alivia & Jackson, brother John; his mother Dorothy; cousins Susan, Mike and Bob; uncles Keith (Sharon) and Steve (Barb) and many cousins. Predeceased by his father, Art, aunt, Mary Chamberlain and uncle, Michael Cain.

In lieu of flowers, the Bregolisse family asks for donations to erect a memorial bench in Dilworth Mountain Park, where Dan spent many hours of his week walking with Doris, Max and Molly. (www.gofundme.com/f/dan-bregolisse)
