We Remember

BROOKS, Olive Margaret

July 25, 1927-June 24, 2020

Olive Brooks passed peacefully into the joy of Jesus, surrounded by her family, at the age of 92. Many thanks to the staff of Village at Mill Creek and Dr. Livingston for their loving and excellent care.  She was pre-deceased by her loving husband, Aubrey, of 72 years. She is survived by her sons, Terry Brooks (Ruth), and Randy Brooks (Kate), her daughter, Sandra (Barry), six grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. Olive was predeceased by her parents and brother Dale. She is lovingly remembered by her sister, Hazel.

Olive was born and raised in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. She married, Aubrey, and they spent 73 loving and dedicated years together. After their marriage, Olive and Aubrey moved to Boston Bar where he worked on the railroad. In 1951, they moved to Kelowna. Mom was thrilled to move into a little house on Birch Ave. In 1964, Matt Ulansky built Olive’s dream home where they happily raised their three children.

Olive is fondly remembered for her beautiful singing voice. She sang at many weddings, in ensembles and interfaith choirs. Olive loved being part of the singing Christmas Tree at Evangel Church. Olive loved her family and they especially remember card games, camping, picnics, and parties. Friends were very important to Olive. They enjoyed her hospitality and she taught many to play canasta. With Avon, she developed a successful career and worked her way up to manager. Olive loved traveling and through Avon, she experienced many exciting trips.

You will be forever in our hearts.

A private family gathering will be held at Kelowna Memorial Cemetery, where Mom will be laid to rest with her beloved Aubrey.
