We Remember
BROWN, James “Jim”
September 20, 1955 — June 11, 2023
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of James “Jim” Brown on June 11, 2023, at the age of 67. Jim passed peacefully with his family by his side.
Jim is predeceased by his father, John Brown, and mother Janet Brown (nee Hendry) of Kilwinning, Scotland.
Jim will be dearly missed by his wife of 40 years, June; children, Katy (Owen), Kirsty (Andreas), Hannah, James, and Jack; his grandchildren, Sophie, Lucy, Emma, and Rosie; sister Janette (Tom); cousin Jim Archibald; and many dear nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, and sisters-in-law.
Jim was a farmer at heart. He was raised at Woodside Farm near Kilwinning, Scotland, and grew up working at his cousin’s dairy farm, Auchenmade. He later worked in agricultural sales before emigrating to Canada in 2001. The family settled on an acreage near Southey, Saskatchewan where they embraced life on the Canadian prairies for five years.
Jim kept busy with DIY projects around the house and had an entrepreneurial spirit. He and June ran DiGer’s Service in Strasbourg, SK before they moved to the Okanagan, where he owned and operated a bath refurbishing business.
Jim loved to cook and create in the kitchen. This was one way that he showed love for his family and company that found their way to his home. He also enjoyed gardening, walking his dogs, and spending time with his family.
Family was the most important part of Jim’s life. He treasured his wife, kids, and grandkids and nothing brought him more joy than watching his family grow and his children develop their own lives. He will be greatly missed and dearly remembered.
A Celebration of Life to honour Jim will be held on Tuesday, June 27th, 2023, at 10:30 AM, at 99 Rows Venue and Vine, Cheesman Rd, Lake Country, BC. If you are unable to attend please join by Livestream (see below). A recording will be available after the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Central Okanagan Hospice House.

You made us so welcome when we visited with the David and Margaret McFarlane. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this sad time.
I am so sorry to hear of this, I have such fond memories working for Jim and June at DiGer’s in Strasbourg. They were so kind and patient with all their high school staff. I learned about hard work, that the quality of a business is reflected by the cleanliness of the bathrooms, and that a Scottish accent is not the easiest to understand when you are being trained on the soft serve or lotto machine.
Jim was a wonderful employer and I looked on him with so much respect.
So very sorry to hear of Jim’s passing. We are Kim’s mom and dad from Strasbourg. Our hearts go out to you and your family ❤️

We are praying for the Brown and Hillier family in this tough time. We remember Jim’s hospitality he showed to us when we showed up at his house with 3 little kids. What a great and generous man he was. ❤️
