It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Kathryn (Kath) Patricia Brown, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister, on August 10, 2020, at the Kelowna General Hospital.

Born November 21, 1950, in Vancouver to George & Gladys Tryon, Kath filled the world around her with love and laughter. She cared deeply for her family and countless others as a nurse in Vernon and Kelowna, BC. She was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother. Memories of her, her strength and spirit, will remain with her family forever. Thirteen years ago Kath married her best friend, Doug, and together they enjoyed gardening and travelling with their dog Spencer. She was incredibly social and loved to be around her extensive family and friends.

She will be greatly missed by her husband Douglas Brown; her children Karen Novik, Travis Thompson (Krista), Nathen Thompson (Tanya), and Troy Thompson (Tandi); grandchildren Daniel, Elias, Caylee, Celine, Anna Chanell, Brooke, Isabella, and Lily; siblings Danny, Margery, David, Wayne, Sandra, and Marianne; and nieces and nephews.

We wish to express our heartfelt thanks to the staff at the Kelowna General Hospital who took care of her in her final days.

Kevin and I send our heartfelt condolences to Doug and To Kathryn’s children and grandchildren and To Kathryn’s siblings – my loving cousins. I miss you my dear Cousin but you will always be with me in memory. Your smile and cheery happy face, your infectious laugh. As our Nanny Tryon lovingly teased the two of us when we were young and us cousins got together. Nanny called the two of us ‘the Giggling Gerties’ – whatever did that mean?? When she said It just got us laughing more. Nanny would wave her finger in the air and say look at those two they will laugh at anything. , We would look at each other and laugh all the more.. Giggling Gerties yes indeed we were. I will always cherish the memories of our times together and the many times we laughed together. There were many serious times as well and I feel blessed to have had Kathryn as my cousin. She will be so missed.
