We Remember

BROWN, Kevin Scott
—
Scott entered into the presence of our Lord on March 29, 2018 at the age of 57. He is survived by the love of his life Shannon, daughter Sydney, son Jordan, sister Heather Daverne, brothers Howard (Diane) Brown, Darryl (Linda) Brown, Bevan (Lisa) Daverne, Doug (Megan) Daverne, parents Dave and Lorette Brown, in laws Fred and Leona Mentanko, sis-in-laws Sharlene, Shelaine and Roxanne and some awesome nieces and nephews. Scott was like a smooth stone skipping across the lake leaving circles every time it skims the water and his ripple effect was profound. From the inner circle of his closest friends and family to the wider circle which included the downtrodden and those marginalized by society and everyone in between, Scott had a way of making people feel like they truly mattered. He was a humble man who, without fanfare, quietly helped people in small and big ways. If a waitress was having a bad day, he’d leave her an extra big tip and that says everything about the man he was. He chose to see the best in people and, with genuine warmth and humour, make them feel as important as they were to him. Scott was devoted to his family and looked after his in laws as though they were his own. There is nothing he wouldn’t do for his family and friends. Scott was born in Edmonton, AB and raised in Saskatoon, SK. But he embraced all that the Okanagan had to offer when he and Shannon moved to Kelowna in 1991 to embark on their journey together as newlyweds with a new baby. He had a successful 30 year career in real estate and many of his business associates became close lifelong friends. He built a reputation based on honesty and going the extra mile. His personal relationships were paramount to him as evidenced by the many close friends who, in his last days, surrounded him with love. From skiing, golfing, hitting the back country trails on his mountain bike, endless hours on the lake with his kids, or his recent work on his pride and joy, a 1965 Chris Craft Commander, Scott lived his life to the fullest. Scott’s faith in God was strong and in his last days on this earth he made it his mission to make sure that everyone he loved knew Jesus the way he did. He leaves a legacy of faith and love and the ripple effect of this extraordinary man will be felt into eternity. Dear Shannon,
Extending my deepest sympathies to you and to Sydney and Jordan. May it bring some comfort and help ease your sorrow to know that warmest thoughts are there with you. Wishing you comfort and healing as God’s love wraps around your family. Sincerely, Cindy Elchuk (Jason & Owen’s mom), Saskatoon
Hi Cindy – thank you for your kind comments. I’m looking forward to seeing Owen this week. It’s been a joy to get to know him a little better over the last couple of years. – S.
We first met Scott a few years back when he approached us regarding his newest acquisition, the Chris-Craft Commander. We were struck by his passion and his professional approach to the project. He was clearly determined to return this boat to her former glory. We acted as consultants and supplied him with the resources he needed to undertake the project. Over the time we knew him, we lost a brother to Cancer and every time Scott visited, his first comment was how we were coping with the loss. The shoe is now on the other foot and the Crew here extends our thoughts and prayers to your unique family. Scott was a very special man and your comparison to a skipping stone speaks volumes about the impact he had on so many people. He will be truly missed by those who were fortunate enough to cross his path.
Sincerely, Andrew and Bruce Middleton – Absolute Classics Marine
Thank you for your kind comments. Scott loved that boat and was so looking forward to being on it all summer long. He was, as you said, special and is so dearly missed. – S.

Please accept my condolence
I would love to attend your service but am traveling that day. Just want you to know that I always appreciated Scott and Shannon’s warm hellos when meeting out in public. I pray you will find strength in your memories of Scott
Hello Shannon, I was so sorry to hear about Scott. When you are feeling up for a visit I would really like to see you. Please know you are in my thoughts. xox Terry
I want to wish his family and friends my deepest condolences. I met scott in the 80’s through other friends and became friends and we even did a Cabaret together. He was a great guy. R.I.P
