CARDER, Albert George

Albert George Carder, age 88, of Kelowna BC, passed away on Sunday April 16, 2017. Al is predeceased by his parents and his daughter Donna. He will be lovingly missed by his wife Joyce; daughter Deborah (Larry) Sweeney of Lake Country, BC and son Russell (Leanne) Carder of Port Coquitlam, BC; grandchildren Lindsey, Mitch, Devin and Carley; as well as his great-grand children Amelia, Camille, Greyson and Elenor.
Al grew up in Calgary where he met the love of his life, Joyce. They eloped in 1956 and spent an amazing 61 years together. They had 3 children, twin girls Donna and Deborah, and son Russ.
Al worked for the UFA where the family moved and travelled for his job. He was well known and respected in the territories that he covered. After a successful career, he decided to give cattle ranching a try in the Wetaskiwin area. Al and Joyce successfully retired from ranching in 1979 to the Okanagan.
From his early years, Al enjoyed his vacation time with his family. In his retirement, he continued to enjoy travelling, boating, fishing and entertaining friends and family.
Al will be remembered for his willingness to be there for his family and friends, always seeing the best in everyone and having a positive, uplifting outlook on life. We will miss you Al!!
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, April 22nd at 1:00 pm at Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna. An Interment Service will be held in the summer in Wetaskiwin, Alberta.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Canadian Cancer Society (www.cancer.ca).
