We Remember

CARLSON, Brian

March 28, 1955 — November 16, 2021

On November 16, 2021, Brian Carlson, 66, passed away unexpectedly, while at home. Born in Kelowna, BC, at the Kelowna General Hospital, Brian was the only son of the late Roy William Carlson of Roblin, Manitoba (April 5, 1923 – November 22, 2004) and the late Gertrude Ellen Carlson of Saskatchewan (December 22, 1917 – December 2007).  Not only was he their son, Brian was also one of his parent’s best friends too. Later, his son Corey and daughter-in-law Marissa would also describe Brian as one of their best friends, it was part of his nature.

Brian travelled the country, from Vancouver to Toronto. He worked for BC Fruit Packers, and later Sun-Rype. A smart student, he became a forklift mechanic for Sun-Rype from 1973 to 1985. Brian was a regular friendly face and free spirit in his communities, he often rode public transit and frequented many local coffee shops & diners. Brian was wise and gentle, thoughtful and caring. An outstanding artist, Brian influenced many young imaginations.

Brain’s family mourn his untimely exit: his son Corey Brian (Marissa) Carlson; stepson Shawn Kenneth Webster; stepdaughter Kelly Dawn Venus; grandchildren Austin Milot, Sophii Zoel Carlson, Noalin Fox Carlson and his step-grandson Gauge Estabrooks. He also leaves his uncle Gary Carlson; Haily, Kayla, and Orion; his ex-wife and mother of his children Patricia Webster; and many extended family members.

Brian’s son, Corey, would like to extend gratitude to his great-uncle Gary, his wife Marissa, and all the caring neighbours that watched out for Brian over the years, including Heather Roeske.

While no formal service will be held, family and friends will honour him, each in their own way.
