We Remember

CARLSON, Russell “Russ”

June 18, 1946 — June 1, 2025

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart…” (Proverbs 3:5a)

On Sunday, June 1, 2025, our cherished Russell (Russ) David Carlson peacefully went to be with his Lord and Saviour. He will always be loved and remembered fondly by his family and those who knew him. For the past year and a half, Russ had been a resident of The Vineyard’s Residence, where he was lovingly cared for before he succumbed to complications due to Parkinson’s.

Russ was born June 18, 1946, in Vancouver, BC. He married the love of his life, Lucille Carlson (Funk), on October 8, 1966. They remained faithfully married until Russ’ passing. Together they had three children, Troy (Natasha), Scott (Tracy), and Simone (Christian), and grandchildren.

Russ was predeceased by his parents, Oscar and Winnivere Carlson, his brother Melvin Carlson, his brother-in-law Don Geortz, and his sister-in-law Geraldine Carlson.

In addition to his wife, children, and grandchildren, Russ is survived by his brother Laurence Carlson, sister Merla Geortz, sister-in-law Lillian Carlson, and brother-in-law Bill (Gail) Funk.

In October 1975, Russ and Lucille moved to West Kelowna. Russ had a long career as a house builder and land developer. Russ built many houses in West Kelowna, Westbank, Peachland, and Kelowna.

When Russ wasn’t building houses, he and Lucille loved to travel in their motorhome, where they enjoyed the great outdoors. Russ also loved being a part of his local church. He supported missions and attended Evangel & Emmanuel Church for many years, where he served on the board (Evangel) and oversaw some of the renovations to the building (Emmanuel).

Memorial Donations in memory of Russell may be sent to The Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada (PAOC).

A Celebration of Life will be held on WEDNESDAY, JUNE 25, 2025, at 1:00 PM (PDT), at Emmanuel Church, 2600 Hebert Road, West Kelowna, BC. If you are unable to attend in person, please join the family online by Livestream at the time of the service (see below).
