We Remember

CARLYLE, Sean William

March 30, 1989 — June 16, 2026

It is with extreme sadness that we announce the passing of Sean Carlyle on June 16, 2026, at the age of 37. Sean was struggling with Huntington’s Disease, and along with his father, Bill, chose to end his days with the assistance of MAiD. With their family by their side, they passed together.

Sean is survived by his mother, Margot, his sister, Paige (Jeff), and nephew Owen.

Sean was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, but moved with his family to Port Coquitlam for 1 ½ years and then lived for 16 years in Kelowna.  Sean spent all his summers at Okanagan Lake, but his greatest love was soccer. From House league to Y league, those years with his teammates and friends were his most cherished memories. He received his Business Degree at the Okanagan College and moved to Ontario for a few years, and then to beautiful Nova Scotia shortly after.  After 11 years out East, he moved back to Kelowna.

Sean’s final gift to others was organ donation, hoping he could improve the lives of others needing help.

We would like to thank the MAiD providers for making his last moments comfortable, and to Jenna and Karly from the Transplant Team for their constant support.

A private family gathering will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Huntington’s Disease Society or a charity of your choice.

Dear Margot and Paige, Heartfelt condolences to you and your family. This ultimate loss has resulted in the ultimate gift for others in need. Rest in peace Bill and Sean. Your memory will live on.

  • Cathy Carlyle says:

I am deeply saddened by Sean’s death – the death of someone so young. I pray that he and his father are together ‘somewhere’ now. I think of them as incredibly courageous people who had the bravery to leave this world — and to leave their organs to make other people’s lives better..
