We Remember

CAVIN, Gregory Charles

May 5, 1955 — August 19, 2026

Greg peacefully departed our shores early on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, sustained by his deep Christian faith, especially during a bravely borne 3-month final struggle with cancer. His sure hope and confidence in Eternal Life were accompanied by the prayers and support of many family members and friends: his wife Irene (née Balych); his siblings Joe, Martin, and Maggie of Victoria, BC; his sisters-in-law Merena (Ron LeStage) and Lorene Wich of Kelowna, and Christina (Paul Weiers) of Meadow Lake, SK; his many nieces and nephews and their children in BC and Saskatchewan; and his many cousins in BC, Ontario, and Nova Scotia.

Greg was born and raised in Victoria, BC, and predeceased by his parents Gerry and Fran and sister Mary, all of Victoria. By trade a carpenter and cabinet maker, his work took him to many sites throughout BC, ending with an early retirement from BC Hydro in the Lower Mainland of BC.

A highlight of Greg’s life was the 18 months at the turn of the millennium spent with Irene in Ukraine distributing Bibles and leading Bible studies, where such activities had long been prohibited. That thirst to evangelize marked his life to the very end. He was happiest sharing his profound faith with others and encouraging them on their spiritual journeys.

Rest in Peace, Greg!
