We Remember

CAWOOD, Alexander William
March 5, 1996 — June 2, 2024
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Son, Alex Cawood, who was taken from us too soon on June 2, 2024, at the tender age of 28. He brought immeasurable joy and light into our lives with his kind heart, radiant smile, fierce drive, and determination. Though his time with us was far too brief, the depth of love and happiness he shared will forever remain in our hearts.
Alex will be missed every day by his mum, Gillian (Luke) Pyper; dad, Darran (Keri) Cawood; sister, Holly (Lucas and son Henry); sisters from his dad’s second marriage, Elizabeth (daughter Faye) and Victoria Cawood; step-siblings, Karita and Dextin; and his beloved daughter, Evelyn Mary, who he co-parented with Jarrica. Alex will also be greatly missed by his extended family both in Kelowna and in Kingston Upon Hull, England.
Alex enriched his family and friends with an immense amount of love, care, and laughter. Alex was a devoted, loving father to his beautiful daughter, who was the light of life. His days were spent enjoying quality time with his family and friends, and enjoying his passion for music. Alex had an exceptional work ethic, as part-owner of Shady Rest Fish and Chips, in addition to taking on extra employment opportunities. Despite life’s challenges, he faced them with courage and resilience, the true meaning of strength. Alex will be remembered for his big heart, great sense of humour, loyalty and humility. Though he may have left this world, his memory will live on in our hearts, a testament to his profound impact on those blessed to know him and the community of Kelowna.
A Celebration of Life will be held in honour of Alex.

My sincere condolences to the entire extended family. While my interactions with Alex were usually brief he was such a great happy-go-lucky soul. All smiles. Heart goes out to you.
I only met Alex a handful of times but he made a lasting impression. He was so kind and patient with his younger siblings and had such a great sense of humour. I’m so sorry for the devastating loss of this wonderful young man.
So sorry for your loss Darren and family !
Alex was held a special place in my heart. He worked for, and with, me during times that were challenging for us both. I have some nice things that I’d love to share with you, the family he spoke of often. I welcome your email if you would like me to send you some nice stories of that wonderful young man.
I am so terribly sorry for your terrible loss. Please know that those in my world that were lucky enough to cross paths with Alex will always remember his always-optimistic character and boundless energy.
Kari, thank you for reaching out and I look forward to connecting with you.
Alex was an incredible father to our beautiful daughter, Evelyn. We were so excited to welcome our baby boy together not long after he passed away. Our Son Charlie Alexander Cawood looks just like his amazing daddy looking out at us from heaven. He is deeply missed by his children, stepchildren and myself. We did not have quite enough time to get started. He will live on forever in our hearts and in his children.
