We Remember
CHAMBERS, Walter AJ
January 1, 1970 — January 1, 1970
Peacefully, with the love of his life for 54 years, Geraldine, and his children, Patrick (Stephanie), Dawn (Carl), Timothy and Kathleen (Bob) at his side, Walter (Wally) passed into the arms of his mother, father, brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews waiting for him in heaven. Wally leaves behind his wife and children, his brother Gerald, his grandchildren Amanda, Daniel, Ryan, Shawn, Garrett and Jesse, his mother-in-law, Olga, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Born in 1936 in Miramichi, New Brunswick, Wally was a skillful golfer, a financial wizard, a comedic genius and artful card player. But first and foremost he was a fiercely loyal family man. He travelled great distances to take in his grandchildren’s sporting events, family celebrations, or to help out his brothers and sisters. There was no request beneath him. He was simply there when he was needed. Wally served 33 years in the Canadian Air Force, posted in many places across Canada from Sydney, Nova Scotia, to Chilliwack, British Columbia, as well as four years in Baden-Sollingen, Germany. He retired as a well-respected Chief Warrant Officer. Wally made sure that his family saw as much of the world as possible and usually in a camper. During these trips, he taught them the fine art of card and board games and the importance of family time. For this, they are eternally grateful. Wally’s family would like to thank the excellent palliative care nurses and staff who made his wish to stay at home a reality. Cancer caused his death but it did not define his life. He was a runner and an otherwise active 79-year old who was proactive about his health. A Memorial Service will be held in the spring. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Cancer Centre for the Southern Interior, 399 Royal Avenue, Kelowna, BC, V1Y 5L3 or Link: http://bit.ly/1Uch4gQ

My deepest condolences to Gerry, Pat, Dawn, Tim and Kathleen. I have many fond memories, over the many decades that he was in my life. From white shorts, socks and sandals in Hawaii, to dumping perfectly good water, in cleverly disguised bottles of Bacardi Rum. I will miss showing you my spaghetti trick and I will definitely miss that chuckle.
Miss and love you, Wally.
Kathleen and your extended family: my sincerest condolences on your loss. We just lost my 95 year old mother in law, whom I loved deeply. I know your pain. Please know that I think of you and pray for your good memories and peace.
Maureen

Our deepest condolences to Gerry and all the children. Many fond remembrances of our times together on the golf course just about every Sunday (with Wally being the odd guy – teeing off on odd numbered holes for close to 12 years), the several times we got together for BBQ and card games in Kelowna to the times we shared in winter in Phoenix. Going to miss Wally’s wit, his common sense, his generosity, his good company and, most of all, his heartfelt friendship. Wally, you are in a better place. See you down the road.
Dear Gerry…so sorry to hear Wally passed away. Our thoughts are with you during this difficult time. God Bless you and your family as you get together… remember the good times.
Love
