We Remember
CHAPMAN, John Ross
—
On January 25, 2026, John “Ross” Chapman of Kelowna, British Columbia, passed away peacefully after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born on February 19, 1940, in Regina, Saskatchewan, to Jack and Mary Chapman.
Ross will be lovingly remembered by his two daughters, Pamela Chapman (Ian Boisvert) and Teresa Chapman (Al Malo); his five grandchildren, Ashley, Keisha, Brody, Lola, and Zoe; and his great-grandson, Cohen. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Linda; his brother, Leo (Yvonne); and many cherished nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Linda; his brother, Bill; his sister, Beryl; and his parents, Jack and Mary.
Born and raised in Regina, Ross proudly served in the Canadian Air Force. His service took him overseas to Egypt, and later to Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, where he spent two memorable years (1976–1977) with the Canadian Forces Snowbirds. Ross treasured the friendships he made during his military career and deeply valued the camaraderie of his teammates. Ross retired to Kelowna, BC in 1996.
Ross enjoyed an active life. He loved golfing and was an avid runner and curler for many years. Each summer, he could be found tending to his tomato plants, and he took great pleasure in reading a good book on his sunny patio. Family celebrations and time with friends were always important to him. He appreciated a good glass of wine or beer, had a fondness for a delicious cookie, and, true to his Air Force roots, was known for running a tight schedule.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to Dr. Adam Burnnett for his compassion and dedicated care. Special gratitude is also given to the wonderful palliative nurses, Deanna, Tiffany, and Janice, whose calm and reassurance meant so much to the family. Sincere appreciation is extended to all palliative home care workers and the Hospice House Kelowna staff — you are truly angels in disguise. Also, a special thank-you goes to his friends and neighbours in the Chartwell community where he lived; they were so wonderful about checking up on Dad and bringing over soup, snacks, and checking in to say “hi”.
Ross will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
A Celebration of Life to honour Ross will be held at a later date.

So sorry to hear of the passing of your dad. Sending our sincere condolences to you all at this very difficult time. Thinking of you ❤️
Our sincerest sympathy on the loss of your Dad. We met him through his brother Bill and sister-in-law Linda in Medicine Hat. He was such a nice man. When we moved to West Kelowna we saw him occasionally when family or friends from the Hat came to visit. Remember all your good memories. He will be missed.
Ross was a kind and caring next door neighbor. He was always ready to share his ripe tomatoes and to trade detective and mystery books. He always had a ready smile and enjoyed the gatherings at our club house. He will be truly missed by all in Chartwell.
Our Condolences to Ross’s family who cared for Ross on a daily basis for a months , He told me how happy he felt having his family helping him. We only met Ross within the last 2 years but enjoyed talking about airplanes and RCAF stuff. Lynn and I enjoyed hearing about his experiences and will miss him.
Teresa, sorry to hear about your Dads passing. Though we only met and I spent a short time with him, he was a great guy I remember the one Christmas where I played Santa Claus, and he set the kids up in the basement, where Santa arrived hunting for Rudolf. Later he made a video with the kids telling him that Santa was just here, He didn’t believe them. We had a good laugh and beer over that. I am sure he will be dearly missed.
