We Remember
CHMELYK, Victor
—
Victor Chmelyk passed away peacefully at Kelowna General Hospital on January 5, 2021 at the age of 85.
Victor is lovingly remembered and honoured by his family: his children Rick (Bernice), Lori (Rick), Robert (Colleen), & Terrance (Sonya); grandchildren Robbie, Ryan, Alisa, Justine, Elizabeth, Cheree, Becca, Erick, & Jaydia; great-grandchildren Grace, Madison, Chase, Ryley, Karsten, Heidi, Victoria, & Maren; sisters Irene, Vicki, Betty; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents Tom & Pearl Chmelyk; his loving wife, Janice Chmelyk, who passed away on January 12, 2019; and his grandson Micheal.
Victor will be remembered as a hardworking man full of love for his family. He was a committed & loyal husband to Janice, and they enjoyed a wonderful life together & a marriage of almost 62 years. He showed us all what true love was as he visited her every day during her battle with dementia and always had a way of making her smile. He had a pragmatic approach to life, was witty and full of humour. He loved a good game of cribbage, listening to music, playing guitar and accordion, the outdoors, fishing, watching hockey, and just socializing with family and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date when it is safe to do so and more family & friends can join in remembering the life of Victor.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Victor’s memory to either the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Alzheimer’s Society.

Dear Chmelyk family. Please accept my deepest condolences. Vic was a very dear colleague and friend for well over 30 years. What a wonderful man he was! I will most certainly miss our phone calls during which we routinely solved the problems of the Toronto Blue Jays and Vancouver Canucks. Please know that I am thinking of you all. Sincerely, Paul van Nostrand
