We Remember

COOK, Christina Wanda (née Rosinski)

February 24, 1936 — June 25, 2022

Christina was born to Sophie Rudulski and Peter Rosinski in the coalmining town of Mountain Park, AB. At the time Mountain Park, elevation 6,200 feet, was the highest civilized point in Canada, something she was proud of her whole life. From there they moved to farm in Bonnyville, AB, where she was raised with her older brother Al and younger brother Ed.  Chris lost her father when she was only five years old.  Eventually, Sophie remarried and Chris spent the remainder of her childhood in Edmonton, AB where she welcomed her youngest brother Ron Kruk.

On October 11, 1958, she married Ken Cook and moved to Richmond, BC where they raised their two daughters Karen and Tracy.  In 1975 they moved to a farm in Surrey, BC where they raised chickens, and pigs, and had horses.

Christina was an artist and a crafter.  While living in Richmond, she made many contributions to the Save the Children Fund with her knitting and crocheting.  Chris loved gardening and had a lifelong love for animals.  She will always be remembered for her dry wit and the sparkle in her eye.

Chris leaves behind her brother Ron Kruk, his wife Paula, nephew Steven and niece Sonja; daughter Karen Cook, her husband Charles Henwood, and grandson Mitchell Semchyshen; daughter Tracy Somerville and granddaughter Tori (Max) Dragonwyck; and nephews Ed, Tony, and Ryan Rosinski, and niece Dr. Natalee Rosinski Andrews and their families.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations are made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

In keeping with Christina’s wishes, no funeral service will be held.
