‘UPDATED’ CORCORAN, Yolanda
—
Yolanda Corcoran passed away on June 16, 2021, in Kelowna, B.C. Born on July 14, 1935, in St. Raymond, Quebec as one of eight children she worked hard as a young girl on the family farm, as a cook in her father’s logging camp, and at the maple syrup shack. She moved to Thompson, Manitoba in 1968 and was well known as a caring nurse (LPN) in the pediatric department. She moved to the Okanagan valley in BC in 1987, first residing in Peachland and a year later moving to Kelowna. She continued demonstrating her caring and nurturing qualities by working in care homes and eventually looking after patients with mental health needs in her home.
She loved her family and had lots of friends with who she loved to talk to and spend time. She always put others ahead of herself, and this combined with her generosity, gentle nature, and contagious laugh made her a joy to be around. She always said, “The most important thing in life is family” and she lived by those words, always ensuring that all members of her family were taken care of.
During her later years, she cherished the friendships she developed at the Salvation Army church and embraced their simple message of kindness and generosity to the less fortunate. She lived at the Okanagan Chateau Retirement Residence for a few years where she made many wonderful friends before moving to Mountainview Village. She loved the staff at both centres who demonstrated extraordinary compassion and kindness to her in her final years.
Yolanda is predeceased by her husband Karl Marschall and is survived by her children Alan (Linda), Annie, Dave (Aurora); her grandchildren Jeffrey, Jenny-Ann, Michael, Rachelle, Steven, Monique, and Landon; and her great-grandchildren Alice and Eliot.
There will be a private family interment in July.
There will be a Celebration of Life Saturday, August 7, 2021, at 2:00 PM PDT with a reception to follow at Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna, BC, V1Y 5V8. For those who cannot attend in person, the service will be livestreamed (see below), with a recording available to view afterwards.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salvation Army in Kelowna.

To Dave, Aurora and family. Our sincere condolences to you and your family.. Many happy memories with your mom. From the time we worked together and years after. RIP
I met Yolanda many years ago as my Dad (Walter d 2002) was a regular at the Salvation Army seniors luncheons. Yolanda was such a kind and caring person and always had time to chat with me after my Dad passed. Although we have not kept in touch for several years, I will never forget her thoughtfulness. My deepest sympathies to her family. Anita McKinnon
I am very sorry for your loss and wish your family strength during this difficult time.

Yolanda and I go back along ways…we are have 4 grandsons in common! But way before they were even thought of we were friends …we had many fun times together in Thompson and Kelowna.
I am sorry for the families loss, but iI am sorry for my own loss as well. It is difficult to make new old friends. We feel the loss.
It’s so sad to lose a parent. Yolanda was such a loving person and so funny. She made people laugh and made each person she met feel so accepted and heard. She embraced my daughter Emma, Aurora and Dave’s niece, as if she were her own. We would visit from Ottawa and Yolanda had French books and toys for her, Emma was taking French Immersion. Yolanda always put everyone else first. A true joy and will be missed. Much love and condolences to my sister Aurora, brother-in-law Dave and the entire Corcoran family.
My heart goes out to all of the Corcoran family, that was a beautiful tribute to a beautiful lady.
My sincerest condolences to the family. She was a great friend to my parents…always kind and generous.
