We Remember
COTTON, Michael Leigh
January 1, 1970 — January 1, 1970
Mike peacefully passed on Monday, December 10, 2018 at the age of 88. He is predeceased by his ever-supportive and loving wife of 65 years, Rosemary in September 2018. He is survived by son, Ross Cotton of Calgary, AB; daughters Donna Cotton of Montreal, QC and Nancy Cotton (Kevin Burk) of Kelowna, BC; grandchildren Taylor and Alana Cotton, and Reid and Brett Coughlan; along with his extended loving family.
Mike’s easygoing friendliness often involved sharing his witty, dry sense of humour with others. This attitude was consistent in all areas of his life. His love of boating and his enthusiasm for exploring BC’s coast brought the family together for many adventures. He was proud to teach his children and grandsons to respect and explore the wonders of his beloved workshop, resulting in many unique creations. He, along with the aid of Rosemary, built homes (not just houses) in which his family could grow, flourish, love and feel safe, always. Secret crawl spaces and hidden cabinets were not unheard of. His futuristic views were incorporated into many of his ingenious designs.
The family would like to especially thank the staff at Sun Pointe Village, Belgo neighbourhood. They respected and cared for Dad with great dignity and genuine compassion.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the Spring of 2019. If you wish to send a condolence, post photos or share a memory, please scroll down the page to the area called “Share Your Condolences.”

My most heartfelt sympathies to you my dear cousins. I know your sorrow. What can I say that would portray what kind of man your Dad was. He was just such a special man and I will always cherish my sweet memories. Your Mom and Dad were true blessings in my life. Hugs.
I am so sorry to hear of Uncle Mike’s passing. Although we lost touch over the years, I can assure you, he was an inspiration and hero in my life.
