We Remember

CUMMING, Robin Irma
November 3, 1940 — September 6, 2019
Robin Irma Cumming, age 78, passed away peacefully on September 6, 2019 in Kelowna after a long battle with dementia. She was born November 3, 1940 in Vancouver, BC to Stewart and Irma Stalker.
Robin was a Registered Nurse with a Master’s of Nursing and worked for many years with the Vancouver Public Health department. She was actively involved in research projects associated with the HIV epidemic in the 80’s and 90’s and supporting the community through home health care. Although the work was very challenging, she found it rewarding. In retirement, Robin moved with her twin sister Alix to Kelowna, BC where they both enjoyed golfing, travelling, and spending time with their families.
Robin is survived by her sisters Alix Barnes and Gail Webb; her son Bruce Cumming of Kernersville, North Carolina; and daughter Linda (Bob) Callahan of Kelowna, BC; as well as 5 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sister Rosemary Foerster. Although dementia took many things it never changed Robin’s cheerful and caring personality. Robin will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by her many friends and extended family. Linda, Bob & Family,
Linda, we are so sorry to hear of your Moms passing. Sending you strength and love at this difficult time
My deepest condolences on Robin’s passing. It was a great pleasure to work with Robin during the difficult years of the AIDS epidemic. I believe our collaboration in research related to the care needs of our patients improved their lives because the findings resulted in changes in policy; for example intensive home care during the last few days of life prevented many unwanted hospitalizations. My very best wishes to Robin’s family. Irene Goldstone
